Having just traveled a long distance, the opening practice session was mainly to help the players relax their muscles, regain their sense of movement and get used to the weather conditions, pitch and training space in Bangkok.
This is an important preparation step before the whole team enters more intense tactical training sessions in the following days.
Before the training session, captain Khuat Van Khang shared with the press that the whole team is maintaining a spirit of determination and high concentration. He said: “Initially, 28 players or anyone is worthy to participate, but the tournament only allows 23 players to register. The selected players all understand their responsibilities and must try their best to respond to the trust of the coach and the fans.”
The 2003-born captain also said that the whole team is prioritizing improving coordination, increasing cohesion in playing style and especially finishing efficiency.
Recalling the SEA Games two years ago, Van Khang frankly said: “The results at that time did not meet expectations. This time, my teammates and I are more determined to bring the best results for Vietnamese football.”
Sharing about the captain's armband, Van Khang affirmed that this is not pressure but motivation: "I see it as a responsibility to try harder, support the team and promote the team spirit towards the common goal."
Evaluating U22 Laos as the opponent in the opening match, he said that this is a team with a good foundation, with many players who have played for the national team: "The match will be very difficult to predict. U22 Vietnam will try their best to win."
According to the match schedule, U22 Vietnam will face U22 Laos on December 3 at Rajamangala Stadium, opening the SEA Games 33 campaign.
