On the morning of August 24, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology - VNU-HCM held the opening ceremony for the 2024-2025 school year. Among the four new students with the highest admission results in the school, two are close friends who were in the same class and attended the same high school in Ho Chi Minh City.

Two best friends became valedictorians of Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology
Both students of Le Thanh Tong Secondary School, participating in many major academic competitions, now close friends Pham Minh Tien and Nguyen Hao Thien continue to be valedictorians of Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology. Both study computer science, the program is taught in English.
Minh Tien is the valedictorian in the combined admission method with a total score of 95.62. Hao Thien is the valedictorian of the A1 block nationwide and is also the student at the top of the list based on high school exam scores with 29.8 points.
They studied together in 10th and 11th grade, but had to separate classes in 12th grade, but they still played together often. Even though they were best friends, the times they met they talked more about other things than about studying.

Hao Thien has a very interesting hobby, which is to make up math and English problems for the people around him to find the solutions.
“In grade 10, I created questions based on the format of the contest “Road to Olympia”, in grade 11, I created questions based on the program “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire”, and in grade 12, I created questions based on the high school exam” – Hao Thien shared.
This also created a lot of excitement for the surrounding students and Tien also participated in this challenge. Tien laughed and said: "I tried to solve it once, but after that I didn't dare to solve it again."
In the future, Hao Thien plans that during their studies, both of them will do group assignments and participate in scientific research so that both of them can achieve the best possible results.

With a score of 93.02 points, Pham Nhu Ha Linh, a former student of Nguyen Du High School for the Gifted (Dak Lak province) is the female student with the most excellent entrance result.

Dinh Quoc Thinh, a former student of Tuong Nguyen Trai High School (Khanh Hoa province) was the valedictorian based on the competency assessment test score, and also the runner-up based on the overall method.
The two remaining excellent new students of the University of Technology include Pham Nhu Ha Linh (Dak Lak province), the female student with the best entrance result with 93.02 points in the comprehensive admission method, and Dinh Quoc Thinh (Khanh Hoa province), the valedictorian based on the capacity assessment test score of 1,080 points. In addition, Quoc Thinh is also the runner-up of the comprehensive method.
According to the school's admission results statistics, nearly 29% of candidates had a competency assessment score of over 900 points; nearly 10% of candidates had a high school graduation exam score of over 27 points and a competency assessment score of over 900. Admission scores for most majors increased sharply, the highest increase was in computer engineering (program taught and learned in English).
Among the provinces and cities with students admitted to the school, Ho Chi Minh City continues to lead in the percentage of successful candidates, with Le Hong Phong High School for the Gifted at the top of the list. More than 19% of this year's new students are female.
