In 2026, the Ministry of Science and Technology has chosen the following themes for its campaign: “Innovation - Breakthrough Action, Spreading Results” and “Innovation - Transforming Faster and Stronger to Turn Ideas into Value, Aspirations into Reality”.

Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Minister of Science and Technology Le Xuan Dinh emphasized that if science creates new knowledge and technology creates new tools, then innovation is the bridge that transforms knowledge and technology into products, services, and practical value for society.
The United Nations' choice of April 21st as "World Innovation Day" also sends a very clear message: in the face of increasingly complex global challenges – from climate change and an aging population to economic and technological fluctuations – no country can achieve sustainable development if it continues to rely on old ways of doing things, old ways of thinking, and old development models.

Deputy Minister Le Xuan Dinh stated that, in recent years, Vietnam's system of policies and laws on science, technology, and innovation has been perfected, contributing to the formation of institutional conditions for the national innovation system... Strategic technology development programs are focusing on foundational areas such as artificial intelligence, big data, biotechnology, new materials, and new energy, demonstrating a clear shift from technology adoption to proactively mastering and developing technology.
At the ceremony, Ms. Pauline Tamesis, the United Nations Resident Coordinator in Vietnam, emphasized that in a fast-paced world driven by digital technology , innovation is no longer an option but a necessity for every economy. According to Ms. Tamesis, innovation creates progress, and innovation shapes the future. This perspective aligns with Vietnam's direction outlined in Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW, which places science, technology, and innovation at the center of development.

“Vietnam is facing an opportunity to break through, not only becoming a nation with innovation capabilities but also making its mark on the global map. The prerequisite is investing in people, connecting knowledge resources, and more importantly, bringing ideas out of the ‘drawer’ and transforming them into concrete value in socio-economic life,” said Pauline Tamesis.
A key focus this year is promoting the role of stakeholders in the national innovation system. Research institutes, universities, and scientists play a crucial role in creating knowledge and technology; businesses are central to application and commercialization; and the State plays a key role in institution building and implementation. Innovation centers are identified as the core connecting technology supply and demand, supporting testing and scaling up effective models.
