The people of Hang Hot village, Nam Ban commune, Lam Ha district, are gradually changing their perceptions and transforming their crop structure to increase their income.

Nam Ban commune in Lam Ha district currently has 36 villages; of which 4 villages are inhabited by ethnic minorities of Central Highlands origin, with 3,189 inhabitants, accounting for 9.75% of the commune's total population. Mr. Phan Tien Dung, Chairman of the People's Committee of Nam Ban commune, said: Regarding socio -economic conditions, the people mainly live by agricultural production; starting from a low base, the lives of the people are still fraught with difficulties.

Based on practical policies closely aligned with the local situation, over the years, the commune has effectively implemented national target programs such as: building new rural areas; sustainable poverty reduction; and socio-economic development in ethnic minority and mountainous areas.

For example, the locality has focused its resources on investing in the construction of 9.5 km of concrete roads with a total cost of 11.2 billion VND, creating favorable conditions for socio-economic development. Schools have been built according to standard infrastructure, contributing to gradually improving the quality of education and the intellectual level of the people. Over 3 billion VND has been invested in the construction and upgrading of water supply facilities for the people; the Hang Hớt and Buôn Chuối reservoirs have been upgraded, ensuring water resources for people's production.

Simultaneously, programs and projects supporting production were implemented, such as providing fertilizers, lawn mowers, and sprayers; supporting livestock farms and breeding stock; and facilitating vocational retraining with billions of dong. Community centers in villages were repaired and upgraded to meet the needs of meetings, cultural activities, and arts; resources were mobilized to build 25 houses, essentially eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses. The poverty rate decreased, with only 26 poor households remaining in 2025, accounting for 5.28%.

Furthermore, the people have proactively transformed the structure of crops and livestock, converting inefficient crop areas to mulberry cultivation and silkworm farming. Currently, 131 households in 4 ethnic minority villages are cultivating mulberry trees and raising silkworms, covering an area of 31.5 hectares. Simultaneously, households are actively grafting and improving coffee varieties, applying scientific and technical methods to production, and increasing economic efficiency on their cultivated land. In addition, they are strengthening livestock farming, developing beef cattle and black pigs. To date, these 4 villages have 385 cattle raised by 55 households.

Besides the achievements, there are also difficulties such as: some people lack self-motivation and still rely on others; the level of education is not high, and the application of new science and technology in production and livestock farming is limited; some households have many children, leading to a shortage of land for production; and the amount of capital supporting production development under national target programs for households and groups of households is still low…

The Chairman of the People's Committee of Nam Ban Commune, Lam Ha District, affirmed: In the coming time, Nam Ban Commune will continue to strengthen the dissemination of the Party's guidelines and policies, the State's laws, especially socio-economic development policies for ethnic minority areas, to the people. At the same time, it will gradually change perceptions and approaches to social life, modify customs and traditions, adopt advanced science and technology in production and livestock farming, improve economic efficiency, and achieve sustainable poverty reduction.

Simultaneously, focus on vocational training, developing traditional crafts and villages, and promoting key products on e-commerce platforms. Actively shift to high-value, stable crops and livestock; apply advanced science and technology to production and animal husbandry to reduce input costs, increase productivity and product quality, and enhance economic efficiency…
