On October 29th, at the Party Central Headquarters, Mr. Nguyen Xuan Thang, Member of the Political Bureau, Chairman of the Central Theoretical Council, and Director of the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics, on behalf of the Party and State leadership, received the delegation of the German Social Democratic Party (SPD), led by Mr. Achim Post, Vice President of the SPD Federation and Co-Chairman of the SPD of North Rhine-Westphalia, who was visiting, working, and participating in the 10th Theoretical Dialogue between the Communist Party of Vietnam and the German Social Democratic Party.
Welcoming the SPD delegation to Vietnam and their participation in the Dialogue, Mr. Nguyen Xuan Thang affirmed that the Communist Party of Vietnam attaches great importance to the exchange of theory and policy with influential political parties around the world , including the SPD.
Mr. Nguyen Xuan Thang emphasized that the theme and content of this dialogue are of paramount importance in the context of the Communist Party of Vietnam finalizing documents and preparing for the 14th National Party Congress; helping to identify the nature of changes in the political , security, and civilizational landscape of humanity, contributing to determining strategic priorities, seizing opportunities, and overcoming challenges for development in the current period.
During the meeting, Mr. Nguyen Xuan Thang informed the Vietnamese side about Vietnam's socio-economic development in recent years, the major orientations and strategic decisions that the Vietnamese Party and State have issued and are determined to implement to achieve the goals of the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Party and the 100th anniversary of the founding of the nation, the determination to achieve an 8% growth rate in 2025, and striving for double-digit growth in the 2026-2030 period. Mr. Nguyen Xuan Thang emphasized that Vietnam advocates for the development of science and technology, digital transformation, and energy transition, placing people at the center, as the subject and driving force of development.
According to Mr. Nguyen Xuan Thang, the Vietnamese Party and State consistently pursue an independent, self-reliant, peaceful, cooperative, and developmental foreign policy, multilateralizing and diversifying international relations, and being a friend and a reliable and responsible partner in the international community. He expressed confidence that the 10th Theoretical Dialogue will contribute to deepening relations between the two Parties, while further promoting the comprehensive, substantive, and effective development of the Vietnam-Germany Strategic Partnership.
Speaking at the reception, Mr. Achim Post expressed his gratitude for the warm and cordial welcome from the Vietnamese side, and highly appreciated the achievements that Vietnam has made in the process of renovation, socio-economic development and international integration.
He affirmed that the SPD values its theoretical cooperation with the Communist Party of Vietnam, considering it one of the important dialogue mechanisms that helps the two parties share experiences in policy planning, sustainable development, social justice, and responding to global challenges, contributing to exploiting potential and strongly promoting relations between the two countries.

On the same day, the 10th Theoretical Dialogue between the two parties was held in Hanoi, co-chaired by Mr. Nguyen Xuan Thang and Mr. Achim Post. The central theme of this Dialogue was: "The two parties' perspectives on the global political landscape; the global economic order and human civilization in the new context: Issues raised and strategic directions."
At the Dialogue, delegates exchanged and shared views on the changing world order, non-traditional security challenges, trade wars and the global economic order, and the role of political parties in the context of current global changes.
Both sides agreed that, in the context of a world facing intertwined risks and opportunities, international cooperation, political dialogue, and the sharing of theoretical perspectives are crucial foundations for promoting peace, stability, and sustainable development. They affirmed that this Dialogue represents a new step forward in the cooperative relationship between the SPD and the Communist Party of Vietnam, contributing to strengthening political trust and deepening the strategic partnership between the two countries.
During their time in Vietnam, the SPD delegation visited the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, the Presidential Palace historical site, paid a courtesy call on National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man, held working meetings with several Vietnamese ministries and agencies, and learned about the practical implementation of energy transition, sustainable development, and innovation policies. Prior to this, the delegation visited and worked in Ho Chi Minh City, held discussions with the city's Party Committee leaders, and participated in several meaningful activities in the city.
