Accompanying farmers to develop organic agriculture

After more than 3 years, the People's Committee of Dong Nai province and Que Lam Group Joint Stock Company (Ho Chi Minh City) signed a cooperation agreement to develop organic agricultural production, achieving many impressive results. Up to now, organic agricultural practice models following the production chain linked to consumption for many key products of the province such as: rice, fruit trees, pig farming... have been continuously replicated.

Que Lam Group Joint Stock Company has truly accompanied farmers to contribute to creating a new look for organic agricultural production.

Replicate good models

Many organic agricultural models of Que Lam Group Joint Stock Company have been transferred to farmers in the province for implementation. Up to now, some models have been initially proven effective, such as implementing 2 investment and development linkage chains on rice with a total area of ​​over 55 hectares.

Specifically, the organic rice investment and development chain in Song Ray commune with an area of ​​nearly 22 hectares for the 2024-2025 winter-spring crop. As a result, the rice yield reached 8.5 tons/ha. The 2025 summer-autumn crop is being implemented with an area of ​​nearly 21 hectares. This model has built a local organic specialty rice brand, with products sold by farmers at much higher prices than the general market level. The rice investment and development chain at Bau Kien Agricultural Service Cooperative in Thanh Son commune has formed a large production scale. In addition, Que Lam Group Joint Stock Company has also built 4 fruit tree development chains with a total area of ​​2.8 hectares including many types of crops such as grapefruit, durian, mangosteen, etc.

Regarding livestock farming, Que Lam Group Joint Stock Company has supported farmers to expand 4 linkage chains with a total herd of 173 pigs. Typical examples include: The livestock investment and development linkage chain of Mr. Nguyen Van Tay in Dinh Quan commune with a total herd of 58 pigs. The livestock investment and development linkage chain of farmer Nguyen Ha Duc Kinh in Dau Giay commune with a total herd of 80 pigs.

With the Organic Livestock model, the enterprise supports farmers in applying biological bedding, supports the cost of repairing fans, installing mist sprayers in barns, etc. With this model, farmers do not need to use water, antibiotics, and at the same time take advantage of organic foods available in their gardens. Thanks to that, the input cost of the Organic Livestock model is cheaper than traditional farming. All food is fermented and supplemented with yeast before feeding, ensuring the quality of pork.

Changing perceptions of organic production

Participating in the organic production chain of Que Lam Group Joint Stock Company, farmers have many benefits.

Mr. Nguyen Thanh Hung, Director of Bau Kien Agricultural Service Cooperative (Thanh Son commune, Dong Nai province) said: I have grown the third rice crop according to organic processes. Organic rice grown according to the company's process has a high yield that is not inferior to the traditional method. Participating in this model, members have many benefits such as: Being able to buy materials including organic fertilizers and biological pesticides from the enterprise with guaranteed quality and good prices. Farmers are supported to buy agricultural materials in the form of a pillow, only when harvesting and selling rice do they have to pay the investment costs. Members are guided by the enterprise's technical staff in the field on clean production processes, so the productivity and quality of rice are high. Seeing that the model brings high economic efficiency, from the pilot model with more than 1 hectare, to date, members have registered to participate in the organic rice production chain with a scale of more than 30 hectares.

Mr. Ho Dang Khoa, Deputy General Director in charge of technology of Que Lam Group Joint Stock Company, shared: In recent times, the entire political system of Dong Nai province has joined with businesses, so production models have been continuously replicated. In particular, the Organic Rice Production model in Song Ray commune has formed a large production scale, building a local organic specialty rice brand. This result shows that farmers' awareness has changed. In addition, the Organic Fruit Tree Growing model has also had a clear development. Regarding livestock, African swine fever has not occurred in any of the pilot models. The Organic and Biosafety Livestock model is continuing to be replicated, with some households investing in dozens of sows. This shows that the organic agricultural models of the unit are approved by farmers. The company will continue to survey and open training courses for Dong Nai farmers to study.

The biggest benefit of organic agricultural production models of enterprises is to protect the health of the soil, the ecological environment and especially the health of the community.
