At the meeting, representatives of many companies, businesses, and business households exchanged necessary information about the lotus industry, cooperation opportunities to upgrade the lotus value chain, and potential to expand the market for lotus products. Currently, the bottleneck of the lotus industry in Dong Thap is the lack of equipment for cultivation and harvesting, which affects productivity, quality, and profits.

Thereby, it is recommended that WWF - Vietnam support technology, equipment, research on high-yield lotus varieties for cultivation and solutions to treat diseases on lotus plants; build a lotus circular economic model and a linkage chain so that the lotus industry can develop more and more sustainably.

According to Mr. Huynh Quoc Tinh, Director of WWF-Vietnam Sustainable Food and Agriculture Program, in the coming time, WWF-Vietnam will focus on surveying lotus varieties suitable for production purposes and soil conditions; the process of treating lotus diseases, especially common diseases today.

At the same time, WWF will upgrade lotus processing equipment and technology; conduct research, use remote sensing to update planting area coordinates to link purchasing and agricultural tourism businesses and implement a pilot model of lotus circular economy.
