After a period of drastic implementation, Dong Thap province has completed 100% of the target with 2,159 newly built and repaired houses. Of these, 605 houses are for households with revolutionary contributions (207 newly built houses, 398 repaired houses) and 1,554 houses are for poor and near-poor households (1,136 newly built houses, 418 repaired houses).
Notably, the program was completed one month ahead of schedule. The total budget of VND189 billion was mobilized and used effectively, creating warm, solid houses for families in difficult circumstances. Notably, in 8 border communes, the program supported 128 houses, ensuring that there are no more temporary or dilapidated houses in the border areas.

In Cao Lanh district, from 408 houses in need of support, the locality has implemented the program vigorously with close coordination between the Party Committee and the government. The family of Ms. Nguyen Thi Hang in My Hoi commune is one of the households receiving support from the program. As a newly escaped poverty household, Ms. Hang was supported with 60 million VND along with the contributions of her relatives to build a new house.
“My family is in a difficult situation, I work for hire to make a living, my house is dilapidated and I have no money to repair or rebuild it. Now that we have a new, spacious house, my family is very grateful to the local government for their support,” Ms. Hang emotionally shared.
Mr. Vo Van Ben, Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of My Hoi commune said: "The Steering Committee always identifies this as an important task with profound humanitarian significance, from which it organizes a review and statistics of the number of houses in need of repair and new construction to help people have a stable place to live."
In Sa Dec city, 101 households eligible for support (14 households with meritorious services, 87 poor and near-poor households) all completed and handed over solid houses, one month ahead of schedule. Mr. Nguyen Van Thuan, Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Sa Dec city emphasized: “Eliminating temporary houses is an especially important political task. It must be done quickly, correctly, and effectively so that people can truly have safe housing.”
The highlight of the program is the joint efforts of the whole society. The whole province established 62 charity house building groups with 934 members, contributing 6,670 working days, estimated to be worth more than 2 billion VND. The spirit of "those who have money contribute money, those who do not have money contribute labor and strength" was strongly promoted, creating great strength from the community.
The program also brought many positive innovations. The implementation of 19 typical house designs transferred by the Department of Construction helps people access beautiful, solid and reasonably priced house models. The level of support for house construction and repair is also increased compared to 2024.
Mr. Dinh Van Dung, Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Dong Thap province affirmed that the decisive factor for success is the attention, leadership and close direction of the Provincial Party Committee, the Provincial Steering Committee and the close and synchronous coordination between all levels, sectors and localities.
