The Vietnamese men's volleyball team had a courageous performance in the quarter-final match of the AVC Nations Cup 2025 against defending champion Qatar.

Despite being underestimated, Coach Tran Dinh Tien's students entered the match with confidence and won a dramatic 31-29 victory in the first set, thanks to the brilliance of Nguyen Van Quoc Duy and leader Quan Trong Nghia.

However, Qatar quickly equalized in set 2 with a score of 25-21 when Vietnam started making mistakes at the key stage.

In set 3, the opponent showed superior class and easily won 25-15. Not willing to stop, the Vietnamese boys rose up strongly in set 4 and won 25-22, bringing the match into the deciding set 5.

In the final set, despite playing with great effort, the Vietnamese men's volleyball team could not stop Qatar from breaking away in the final points and accepted defeat 12-15.

Losing 2-3 (31-29, 21-25, 15-25, 25-22, 12-15) and missing the semi-final ticket to the AVC Nations Cup 2025, coach Tran Dinh Tien and his team left behind many emotions and pride with their resilient play against the defending champions.

Vietnam will meet its regional rival Indonesia in the match for 5th-8th place, at 11pm on June 22 ( Hanoi time).
