Overview of Phu My 2 Bridge project

The Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee has approved the policy of assigning Masterise Group Corporation (Masterise Company) to research and prepare a report on investment proposal for the Phu My 2 Bridge project. This is a key traffic infrastructure project, connecting the South of Ho Chi Minh City with Dong Nai province under the public-private partnership (PPP) method, with a total preliminary investment of nearly 13,000 billion VND.

Phu My 2 Bridge is a transport infrastructure project being researched and invested in to connect South Saigon with Dong Nai province.

The project is expected to create a new traffic axis, contributing to significantly reducing the load on the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay Expressway and promoting socio -economic development for both localities.

Detailed scale and route

Phu My 2 Bridge has a total length of about 6.3 km, of which the section in Ho Chi Minh City is 4.6 km long and the section in Dong Nai province is 1.7 km long.

  • Starting point: Connecting to Nguyen Huu Tho street, Phu Thuan ward, district 7, Ho Chi Minh city.
  • End point: Connects to the inter-port road in Phu Huu commune, Nhon Trach district, Dong Nai province.

The project has its starting point at Nguyen Huu Tho Street (HCMC) and its ending point at the inter-port road, Dai Phuoc Commune, Dong Nai Province.

In terms of scale, the bridge is designed with 8 lanes, including 6 motor lanes and 2 mixed lanes. The approach road on the Ho Chi Minh City side will connect to the North-South axis (Nguyen Huu Tho Street), including a 2-storey overpass along Hoang Quoc Viet Street and 2 branches connecting to Dao Tri Street. On the Dong Nai side, the approach road will connect directly to the Inter-port route.

Total investment capital and expected progress

The total preliminary investment of Phu My 2 bridge project is nearly 13,000 billion VND. The capital structure is allocated as follows:

  • Budget capital: About 2,130.8 billion VND, paid by Ho Chi Minh City and Dong Nai province for compensation, site clearance and resettlement.
  • Investor capital (according to BT contract): About 10,782 billion VND for construction costs.

The project is expected to start in the third quarter of 2026 and be completed after 3 years of construction. Previously, in October 2025, the People's Committee of Dong Nai province issued a document agreeing to let the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City be the competent authority to implement the project.

The role of the proposed investor and the legal process

According to the approval of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, Masterise Company will balance its own budget to conduct research and prepare a report proposing the project investment policy within 12 months. This will not use the city budget.

It should be noted that the assignment of the proposal does not bind or appoint Masterise as the investor to implement the project. After the report is approved, the city will organize the selection of the official investor in accordance with current law to ensure transparency and competition.

Strategic impact and regional connectivity

The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Construction assessed that the construction of Phu My 2 Bridge will create a new, effective traffic axis connecting the two major economic centers of Ho Chi Minh City and Dong Nai. This project not only shares the pressure on existing routes but is also part of the strategy to develop infrastructure connecting the Southern Key Economic Zone.

In addition to Phu My 2 bridge, Ho Chi Minh City and Dong Nai have also agreed to implement 7 other bridge and road projects to enhance connectivity, including Cat Lai bridge, Long Hung (Dong Nai 2 bridge), Hieu Liem 2, Thanh Hoi 2, Tan Hien, Tan An and Xom La.

The area is planned to build Cat Lai Bridge, another connecting project between Ho Chi Minh City and Dong Nai.
In addition to Phu My 2 Bridge, Ho Chi Minh City and Dong Nai also agreed to implement many other connection projects, such as Cat Lai Bridge.
