This shows that the market is very sensitive to taxes and prices; Vietnamese pepper will have to compete fiercely with pepper from Brazil and Indonesia because their corresponding tax rates are lower.

The US remains the largest export destination, accounting for about 25% of Vietnam's total pepper exports. Conversely, Vietnam is also the largest pepper supplier to the US, accounting for 77% of the country's total pepper output.
