Travel is one of the two   spearhead economic sector of   city. On the occasion of Lunar New Year 2025, the number of tourists, especially those attending spring festivals, coming to the city will increase, promising a breakthrough right from the first days of the new spring.

During the 9-day Lunar New Year holiday, the city welcomed 91,686 visitors, an increase of 8% over the same period in 2024; the number of people entering and leaving through Mong Cai International Border Gate (Bac Luan I) reached 99,959, and through Bac Luan II Border Gate reached 2,383. The city organized 13 cultural activities and events to ensure safety, 100% on schedule, creating a joyful and exciting atmosphere among the people. It is expected that in the coming days, the number of tourists to the city will continue to increase, associated with a series of early spring festivals, such as: Van Ninh communal house festival, Bau communal house, Dan Tien communal house, Quat Dong communal house, Xa Tac temple... In January 2025, the city welcomed 160,000 visitors, an increase of 10% over the same period last year. This is a favorable opening signal for Mong Cai tourism industry to continue to flourish and make a breakthrough in 2025 with the goal of welcoming more than 4 million visitors, including more than 2.5 million international visitors.

In recent times, the city has focused on maximizing the potential, advantages, resources, and diversifying new tourism products, bringing unique values ​​to the culture, land, and people of Mong Cai. The city has proactively improved the quality of existing tourism products and built new tourism products to meet the needs and tastes of international visitors, such as culinary tourism, golf tourism, Hai Son - Bac Son experience tourism, Tra Co - Binh Ngoc - Vinh Thuc - Vinh Trung resort, self-driving tourist cars across the border, experiencing community tourism and fishermen's lives in island communes...

The city strengthens state management of the tourism business environment; directs tourism businesses to improve service quality, organize activities to serve tourists during Tet and widely publicize and communicate the list of service businesses serving tourists during the holiday.   Tet; maintain effective operation of tourism promotion fanpages; make the most of social networking platforms Facebook, Zalo, TikTok; connect and provide timely information to media units inside and outside the province to report, introduce and promote the city's tourism activities.

The coastal walking path system and infrastructure of Tra Co National Tourist Area have been invested in and upgraded to serve tourism activities.

The city focuses on investing resources for tourism development, in which it identifies and selects key and appropriate tasks; maintains the management of the tourism business environment, pays attention to planning, attracting and investing to create diverse, high-quality, unique tourism products with unique values ​​about the culture, land and people of Mong Cai; organizes training and improves the quality of human resources; strengthens propaganda, introduction, promotion and dissemination of Mong Cai tourism on all platforms, especially digital technology platforms; maximizes the city's potential, advantages and tourism resources.
