Making Bac Lieu one of the country's clean energy centers

Mr. Lu Van Hung - Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Council of Bac Lieu province (NAD), spoke at the conference to review 5 years of implementing Resolution No. 55-NQ/TW of the Politburo.

Mr. Lu Van Hung - Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Council of Bac Lieu province (NAD) said: "After 5 years of implementing Resolution 55, the province's energy sector has had positive developments, making very important contributions to promoting socio-economic development, ensuring national defense and security in the province. At the same time, providing energy (electricity) in a timely, sufficient, stable and safe manner for production, business activities and serving the daily life of people in the province and the Southwest region. In particular, the power supply infrastructure has been invested and achieved initial results.

Clean energy, renewable energy (wind power, solar power) and gas power are identified as one of the five pillars of socio-economic development of the province. In recent times, the province has implemented many synchronous and effective solutions, which are increasingly complete, open and transparent. In particular, it is considered by domestic and foreign investors as a place with great potential and investment opportunities.

The policies and administrative procedures have many reforms, which are one of the "bright spots" in attracting and calling for investment in the region and the whole country; creating conditions for the renewable energy and clean energy industry to develop, making Bac Lieu one of the clean energy centers of the country".

“Party committees, Party organizations, agencies and units continue to effectively implement Resolution 55 of the Politburo on the orientation of Vietnam's national energy development strategy to 2030, with a vision to 2045; Plan 137 of the Provincial Party Committee Standing Committee on provincial energy development to 2030, with a vision to 2045; Resolution 04 of the Provincial Party Committee on building Bac Lieu into one of the country's clean energy centers.

Promote administrative reform, attract large-scale, high-quality and effective foreign investment in the energy sector; encourage the private sector to participate in socialized energy development; research and apply science and technology, protect the environment in energy development in the province. At the same time, promote digital transformation and technology application in energy development.

Continue to organize and implement the National Program on energy saving and efficiency in the period of 2020 - 2030. Along with that, well implement the policy to encourage households to consume clean and renewable energy, especially in industry and transportation." - Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Council of Bac Lieu province suggested.

To date, Bac Lieu province has attracted 10 enterprises to invest in developing 10 wind power projects and 1 gas power project. In 2024, the total electricity consumption of the whole province will be 1,316.2 million kWh; the total electricity output of clean energy sources sent to the grid will be 1,436.2 million kWh.

In addition to the achievements in the implementation of Resolution No. 55, Bac Lieu province still has many difficulties and problems such as: the power grid infrastructure is not synchronized with the province's existing power sources (wind power, solar power), there are times when the power generation capacity of some wind power plants and rooftop solar power systems must be cut due to grid overload.

Currently, Bac Lieu has 1,612 rooftop solar power systems, 8 wind power plants in commercial operation, tax revenue from 8 wind power plants in the 3 years 2022 - 2024 is nearly 481 billion VND.

In addition, Bac Lieu also has 2 wind power plant projects under construction, 1 LNG power plant project in the preparation stage for construction. This is the basis, premise and correct orientation for Bac Lieu province to develop energy in sync with the National Energy Plan in the coming time.
