Thai Prime Minister makes Dong Ho folk paintings, enjoys Vietnamese tea

Thai Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra had the opportunity to listen to an introduction to Vietnam's unique handicrafts, experience making Dong Ho folk paintings, and enjoy traditional Vietnamese tea.

On the evening of May 15 at the Government Headquarters, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and Thai Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra visited and experienced unique Vietnamese handicraft products and displayed Vietnam - Thailand photos.

The photo exhibition about the country, people and relationship between Vietnam and Thailand introduces photos recording the development process of the relationship between the two countries since the official establishment of diplomatic relations on August 6, 1976, to the enhanced strategic partnership in 2015 and up to now.

After 49 years of construction and development, the two sides have created an important and solid foundation and premise to bring the Vietnam - Thailand relationship to a new height.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and Thai Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra also watched artisans perform and products and listened to introductions about Vietnam's unique handicrafts such as clay figurines, conical hats, bamboo and rattan weaving, ceramics, wood carvings, embroidery, folk paintings, and lacquer.

Handicraft products are made from familiar materials, closely associated with the daily life of Vietnamese people, are cultural heritage, crystallized from the ingenuity, passion and soul of artisans, expressing the beauty and pride of the Vietnamese nation.

Handicrafts in Vietnam have a long historical tradition associated with craft villages and craft streets spread across the country.

Currently, Vietnam has about 2,500 handicraft villages. In addition to serving domestic and international tourists to Vietnam, handicrafts are always in the top 10 export items with the largest turnover of Vietnam, present in 163 countries and territories.

At the invitation of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, Thai Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra is paying an official visit to Vietnam and co-chairing the 4th Meeting of the Vietnam-Thailand Joint Cabinet from May 15 to 16.

This is the first visit to Vietnam by Thai Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra since she took office and the first visit by a Thai Prime Minister to Vietnam in 11 years, and the first joint Cabinet meeting of the two countries' Prime Ministers in 10 years.

This event contributes to strengthening political trust and is an opportunity for both sides to review the progress of promoting cooperation in all fields in the recent past, aiming to deepen and substantiate the relationship in the upcoming era of cooperation and development.
