Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha signed Decision No. 821/QD-TTg dated July 10, 2023 approving the Task of developing a Plan for the preservation, restoration and rehabilitation of Trang An - Tam Coc - Bich Dong National Special Scenic Landscape, Ninh Binh Province.

According to approval, the planning scale includes the entire area of the Trang An - Tam Coc - Bich Dong National Special Scenic Landscape within the scope of the World Cultural and Natural Heritage Trang An Scenic Landscape Complex recognized by UNESCO with a total area of 9,663 hectares.
The nature of the planning area is a special national scenic area belonging to the World Cultural and Natural Heritage Trang An Scenic Complex; a tourist area with the potential to develop into a national tourist area.
The planning objective is to preserve the outstanding global values of the heritage, concretize the development strategies and orientations of Ninh Binh province, and fulfill Vietnam's commitment to UNESCO in the work of preserving and promoting heritage values.
Heritage conservation is harmoniously combined with sustainable development, making Trang An Scenic Landscape Complex, Ninh Binh province one of the attractive tourist areas of Vietnam and the world, the driving force for the development of Ninh Binh province and the Northern Delta region.
At the same time, determine boundaries, delineate protection zones for relics; determine functions and land use indicators for areas; organize space, arrange technical infrastructure systems suitable for stages of conservation and promotion of relic values; create a legal basis for the implementation, approval and management of planning and projects; develop mechanisms and policies, attract investment resources, promote the role of the community in the work of conservation, restoration and promotion of heritage values.
Accordingly, the planning tasks include: Research, survey; determine vision, goals and planning principles; determine forecasts and development indicators; orient the organization of space, landscape architecture; orient tourism development...
On June 23 , 2014 , at 11:57 a.m. Qatar time (3:57 p.m. Vietnam time), in the capital city of Doha, Qatar, the World Heritage Committee of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization ( UNESCO ) officially recognized the Trang An Scenic Landscape Complex (Ninh Binh province, Vietnam) as a mixed Cultural and Natural World Heritage.
Trang An Scenic Landscape Complex covers 20 communes and wards of Hoa Lu, Gia Vien, Nho Quan districts, Tam Diep town and Ninh Binh city with an area of over 12,000 hectares, surrounded by four rivers: Hoang Long River in the North, He River in the South, Ben Dang River in the West and Chanh River in the East. In the heritage site, there are over 40 historical and cultural relics and scenic spots ranked at national and provincial levels, including two special national relics: Hoa Lu Ancient Capital and Trang An, Tam Coc - Bich Dong Scenic Landscape.
