VHO - The People's Committee of Khanh Hoa province has recently sent a document to the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism requesting that the Khanh Hoa Swiftlet Nest Festival be included in the National List of Intangible Cultural Heritage, in order to contribute to the preservation and promotion of the unique cultural values of this festival, which is closely associated with the history of this centuries-old industry.

The Bird's Nest Festival is a traditional cultural activity associated with the bird's nest harvesting industry, which has a history of over 700 years in Khanh Hoa. The festival expresses gratitude to the patron saint of the profession and the deities who have blessed those working in the bird's nest industry, while also praying for a successful and peaceful harvesting season.
The Swiftlet Nest Festival is a traditional ceremony associated with the swiftlet nest harvesting industry, which has a history spanning hundreds of years in the coastal region of Khanh Hoa - known as the "land of agarwood and swiftlets". The festival expresses the belief in worshipping the patron saint of the profession, showing gratitude to the protective deities, and praying for a bountiful harvest for those engaged in the swiftlet farming industry.
Over the centuries, the festival has not only held profound spiritual significance but has also contributed to community cohesion and the preservation of local cultural traditions.

The application dossier has now been completed by Khanh Hoa province in accordance with regulations and submitted to the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism for review, assessment, and presentation for recognition as a national intangible cultural heritage.
