Their impressive comeback victory helped them win 10-8 and brought home the 20th gold medal for the Vietnamese sports delegation.

Following the men's doubles victory, the pétanque event continued to bring good news as Nguyen Thi Thuy Kieu and Nguyen Thi Thi performed excellently and won the gold medal in the women's doubles after defeating the host team Thailand.
The excellent teamwork and consistent performance of the two athletes helped them convincingly defeat their opponents, securing a double gold medal win for Vietnam in petanque in the same afternoon, while also firmly consolidating the sport's position in the regional arena. This is also the 21st gold medal for the Vietnamese Sports Delegation at the 33rd SEA Games.

The day before, the pétanque sport continued to attract attention when Nguyen Van Dung (51 years old), the team's most veteran athlete, won the gold medal in the men's single target shooting event.
He defeated his Indonesian opponent in the final, completing his SEA Games collection with the gold medal he was missing, having won a silver medal at SEA Games 31 (Vietnam), a bronze medal at SEA Games 32 (Cambodia), and a gold medal at SEA Games 33 (Thailand).
