Long Thanh Airport to be put into commercial operation in the first half of 2026

Regarding the Long Thanh Airport Project Phase 1, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh affirmed that Long Thanh Airport is a national key project, receiving the attention and close direction of the Prime Minister. Up to now, the good news is that the project has taken a clear shape. However, investors, contractors and relevant ministries and branches need to thoroughly understand the unchanged goal of the project, which is to basically complete it in 2025 and put it into operation and commercial exploitation in the first half of 2026.

To meet the set progress requirements, the Prime Minister requested investors to urgently deploy the construction of headquarters of state management agencies, assigning work clearly in terms of people, tasks, products, responsibilities, progress, and authority, and definitely completing component project 1 (headquarters of state agencies) in 2025.

For component project 2 (works serving air traffic management), Vietnam Air Traffic Management Corporation (VATM) directed to urgently deploy works to ensure quality for testing in October 2025 as committed; closely coordinate with ACV to ensure synchronization of technical infrastructure, serving equipment testing and project exploitation and operation.

Vietnam Airports Corporation (ACV) directed the urgent construction of items, implementing "3 shifts, 4 shifts", having to "go through holidays and days off"; "eating quickly, sleeping urgently", "braving the sun, overcoming the rain, not losing to storms" for the work of the passenger terminal of component project 3 (essential works) after completing the roofing work, actively implementing the bidding packages to basically complete in 2025.

For Component Project 4, the Ministry of Construction will study the option of selecting investors in special cases according to its authority and the provisions of law so that Vietnam Airlines can invest in hangars 1 and 2, Vietjet Air can invest in hangars 3 and 4, determined to complete the items in 2025 as committed. If not completed, it will be handled according to the provisions of law. The Ministry of Construction will direct the implementation of the items, ensuring synchronous completion with other component projects.
