Duc Pho - A heroic epic that resonates forever.

(Baoquangngai.vn) - Member of the Central Committee of the Party, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, and Chairwoman of the Provincial People's Council, Bui Thi Quynh Van, expressed her wish that the Party Committee, government, military, and people of Duc Pho continue to uphold the spirit of responsibility, unity, dynamism, creativity, and boldness in thinking, acting, and making breakthroughs to successfully achieve the set goals and tasks, contributing more to the cause of building and protecting the homeland and the country.

On the evening of March 21st, at the October 8th Square in Nguyen Nghiem Ward (Duc Pho Town), the Town Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, and Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Duc Pho Town solemnly organized the ceremony commemorating the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of Duc Pho (March 23, 1975 - March 23, 2025) and the 5th anniversary of the establishment of Duc Pho Town (2020 - 2025) with the theme "Duc Pho - The heroic epic will forever resound".

Attending the ceremony were General Tran Quang Phuong, Member of the Central Committee of the Party, Vice Chairman of the National Assembly ; leaders and former leaders of the central government and ministries, departments and agencies; and leaders of provinces and cities.

On the provincial side, attendees included Bui Thi Quynh Van, Member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, and Chairwoman of the Provincial People's Council; Dinh Thi Hong Minh, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee; former provincial leaders from various periods; members of the Provincial Party Standing Committee; leaders of the Provincial People's Committee; leaders of departments, agencies, and localities; Vietnamese Heroic Mothers, Heroes of the People's Armed Forces, veteran revolutionary cadres, and leaders of Duc Pho town from various periods; delegations from Thanh Chuong district (Nghe An), An Lao district and Hoai Nhon town (Binh Dinh), Da Huoai ( Lam Dong ), along with a large number of local people.

At the commemoration ceremony, the Secretary of the Duc Pho Town Party Committee, Do Tam Hien, delivered a speech recalling the heroic, resilient, and indomitable fighting tradition and the process of building and developing Duc Pho over the past 50 years.

Fifty years ago, in response to the General Offensive and Uprising throughout Southern Vietnam, the army and people of Duc Pho, along with the army and people of the province, launched powerful offensives under the direction of the Provincial Party Committee. At exactly 0:15 AM on March 23, 1975, the "Determined to Fight, Determined to Win" flag of our army and people flew over the enemy's last stronghold in Duc Pho, marking a momentous historical event: Duc Pho was completely liberated, contributing to the liberation of Quang Ngai province and the liberation of Southern Vietnam, unifying the country.

Fifty years after liberation, Duc Pho has undergone a dramatic transformation, presenting a new image of a young, rapidly developing city.

On February 1, 2020, Duc Pho district was recognized as a town. This is not only an important milestone for the Party Committee and people of Duc Pho to proudly continue the traditions of their homeland, but also opens up opportunities for this southern gateway region of the province to develop. After 5 years of establishment as a town, the urban landscape of Duc Pho town has become increasingly vibrant, especially in transportation and urban infrastructure, which have seen many positive changes. By 2025, compared to the standards of a type IV urban area, Duc Pho town will achieve 93/100 points; compared to the standards of a type III urban area, Duc Pho town will achieve 78.5/100 points; and the urbanization rate will reach 57%.

The town's economy has consistently experienced high growth. By 2024, the total value of production (calculated at current prices) is estimated to reach nearly 55 trillion VND, 1,044 times higher than in 1975, 46.2 times higher than in 2005, and 6 times higher than in 2015. The economic structure has shifted in the right direction; the proportion of industry, construction, and services increased from 11.98% in 1975 to 88.7% in 2024. The average value of production per capita in 2024 (calculated at 2010 constant prices) is expected to reach 283 million VND. By the end of 2024, the poverty rate in the town will decrease to 2.2%.

On behalf of the provincial leadership, Ms. Bui Thi Quynh Van, Member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, and Chairwoman of the Provincial People's Council, congratulated the Party Committee and people of Duc Pho town on the significant achievements made over the past 50 years. She affirmed that these achievements are the collective result of generations of leaders, officials, Party members, armed forces, and people throughout the town who have overcome all difficulties and challenges, working together with determination to build a more developed Duc Pho.

This includes continuing to preserve, strengthen, nurture, and cultivate unity within the Party organization and among all strata of the people; implementing comprehensive and effective solutions to transform rich revolutionary traditions, history, and culture into resources for development; and turning difficulties, challenges, and poverty into motivation and aspirations for progress. It also involves continuing to identify and effectively implement Party building as a key task, building a clean, strong, streamlined, and efficient political system.

Currently, along with the rest of the country, Quang Ngai is determined and resolutely focusing on streamlining and organizing its administrative apparatus to be lean, efficient, effective, and efficient; and reorganizing administrative units at the commune and district levels. Therefore, Duc Pho must also determine its mindset and proactively implement these important political tasks; it must do a good job of political and ideological work, and strengthen propaganda throughout the entire political system and among every cadre, Party member, and citizen of Duc Pho town regarding the policies, requirements, and tasks in the new situation.

It is necessary to more clearly identify and recognize the unique potential, outstanding opportunities, and competitive advantages of the locality within the overall context of the province in order to build appropriate economic and social development goals, plans, and strategies for the new development phase.

This includes focusing on developing and improving economic and social infrastructure in transportation, education, healthcare, culture, and social services, creating new development spaces and potential; forming new urban areas, industrial zones, service areas, and tourist areas. Development is based on digital transformation, green transformation; and the development of a circular economy and a knowledge-based economy.

Continue to strengthen solidarity and progress through internal strength; overcome limitations, weaknesses, and shortcomings; be more proactive and creative; mobilize the strength of the entire political system and the people in implementing the set goals and tasks. Continue to do well in showing gratitude and appreciation; effectively implement social welfare policies, ensuring a prosperous and happy life for the people. Ensure national defense and security; maintain social order and safety.
