(NLDO) – Four people trapped in the middle of the Dak Mi River ( Quang Nam province) were safely rescued by authorities using a pulley system to cross the floodwaters.

On the afternoon of December 14th, Mr. Ho Van Huy, Chairman of the People's Committee of Phuoc Chanh commune, Phuoc Son district, Quang Nam province, reported that functional forces had successfully rescued four people who were trapped in the middle of the Dak Mi river due to flooding caused by heavy rain.
Earlier, on the afternoon of December 13th, four residents of Hamlet 3, Phuoc Chanh Commune, Phuoc Son District, namely Mr. Ho Van Thung, Mr. Ho Minh Ha, Mr. Ho Van Ngo, and Mr. Ho Van Kiem, were crossing three streams in Dak Se where they meet the Dak Mi River while on their way to work in the fields.
Upon reaching a rocky islet in the downstream area of the Dak Mi 3 hydroelectric reservoir, sudden heavy rains occurred, and floodwaters from upstream rushed in, cutting them off and preventing them from escaping the dangerous area.

On the morning of December 14th, employees of the Dak Mi 3 hydropower plant discovered the situation and quickly reported it to the local authorities. Upon receiving the information, the People's Committee of Phuoc Chanh commune, in coordination with hundreds of local residents, deployed rescue efforts.
Authorities used ropes to create a pulley system, crossing the fast-flowing floodwaters to bring all four people safely to shore. By 2 PM that day, the rescue operation was completed.
According to Mr. Ho Van Huy, the rescue operation was completed promptly, ensuring that the victims were not injured or lacked essential supplies. Currently, all four people are in stable condition.
The Quang Nam Meteorological and Hydrological Station forecasts that from December 14th to 16th, many localities in the province will continue to experience heavy rain. Rainfall amounts will generally range from 40-150 mm depending on the area, with the southern mountainous region potentially recording over 200 mm, posing a risk of flash floods and landslides.
