Implementing the environmental landscape criteria in building a model new rural commune, including the criteria of having a flower road and planting prominent ornamental plants to attract visitors with a length of at least 1km, the Steering Committee of the New Rural Construction Program (NTM) of Thuan An commune has chosen DT910 road, the section through Thuan Tan and Thuan Thoi hamlets to build a flower road, with a length of 1.5km.

On this new rural flower road, the cadres, police, military and communal organizations combined with the hamlet to mobilize people to join hands in planting and caring for the flowers.

Mr. Nguyen Van Xinh - Secretary of the Party Committee of Thuan An Commune, Binh Minh Town (Vinh Long Province) said that such a beautiful flower road is thanks to the joint efforts of the commune, hamlet and people in planting, caring for and creating a rich source of flowers.

Accordingly, the Commune Party Committee has assigned each organization, police and military forces to take charge of a section of the new rural flower road. Each unit arranges its own time to take care of it.

The valuable thing is that, in each campaign, not only the commune and hamlet officials and people on the new rural flower road but also the neighboring households actively join hands.

The new rural commune - Thuan An commune (Binh Minh town, Vinh Long province) has built a new rural flower road on Highway 910 with a length of 1.5km. The new rural road is planted with bougainvillea, periwinkle, marble, red banana flowers, snow violet flowers...

At first, when we first started growing flowers, it was quite difficult because there was only one water source on one side of the road, so to ensure water for the flowers on both sides of the road, the commune had two teams including military forces and hamlets carrying watering machines.

From the beginning of December 2023, the Commune Party Committee decided to establish a flower watering team, consisting of 6 people, of which Mr. Lam Van Thuan - Chairman of the Farmers' Association of Thuan An Commune, Binh Minh Town (Vinh Long Province) is the team leader.

According to Mr. Lam Van Thuan, before the commune only had a cart with a water tank, people had to scoop water into the tank and push the cart to water the flowers and ornamental plants along the new rural flower road.

Recently, we have researched and "redesigned" by attaching a water pump to the tank and pumping water to water flowers and ornamental plants, so it is much less difficult than before and watering flowers is also more effective.

Leading us to the road from Xeo Rach Chua bridge to the border with Cai Von ward (about 400m long, belonging to DT910) managed by the Commune Farmers' Association Executive Committee, Mr. Lam Van Thuan said that there was a household growing beautiful cockscomb flowers in this area, so the association asked them to grow seedlings. As for ornamental banana flowers, they were "shared" from the flower route managed by the Commune Veterans' Association (Tran Dao - Kinh Moi route).

Along both sides of the new rural flower road in Thuan An commune, Binh Minh town (Vinh Long province) are fields and fields of green color.

The Chairman of the Farmers' Association of Thuan An commune added that this section is convenient because it is close to people's houses, and is regularly taken care of and watered by people. Many households also grow flowers... so the association mainly cuts the grass about once a month.

New rural flower road - village road shimmering with blooming flowers

Previously, when living in Thuan Tien B hamlet, Mr. Tran Van Nam actively participated in planting and taking care of flowers on the flower road managed by the Commune Veterans Association.

After moving to Thuan Tien A hamlet, Mr. Nam brought some colorful banana flower seedlings from Tran Dao - Kinh Moi road to plant to create a more beautiful appearance for the road in front of his house. Seeing him grow beautiful flowers, many households also actively planted them.

Currently, as the Head of the Farmers' Association of Thuan Tien A Hamlet, Mr. Tran Van Nam actively sets an example, participating with the Commune Farmers' Association in each campaign to plant and care for flower roads.

Among them, the DT910 flower road, thanks to being well-cared for, is becoming more and more beautiful, attracting visitors. Anyone passing by will exclaim in admiration, "the flower road is exceptionally beautiful."

According to the Steering Committee of the New Rural Development Program of Thuan An commune, the commune currently has 3 flower-planting routes with a total length of 4.1km, including: Highway 1 - Mieu Ba (Tran Dao - Kinh Moi route), West Embankment route (Thuan Thanh hamlet) and DT910 route. The routes are blooming beautifully.

After surveying Thuan An flower street, Mr. Le Van Dung - Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, Chief of the Office of Coordination of the New Rural Development Program of Vinh Long province, commented that Thuan An has built a very beautiful flower street. The criterion for a model new rural commune is to have at least 1km of flower street, but the commune has achieved more, with low and high levels of flowers and many colors...

The new rural flower road in Thuan An commune, Binh Minh town (Vinh Long province) grows many types of flowers and ornamental plants such as periwinkle flowers, marble flowers, red banana flowers, snow violet flowers, bougainvillea flowers... attracting many visitors to visit and admire.

“Launching the flower planting movement is already good. Along with that, the care of the people on both sides of the road is also very good. In the near future, other localities building model new rural communes can visit and replicate the model,” Mr. Le Van Dung emphasized. Accordingly, the countryside will have more joyful roads with colorful flower roads.

According to the Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Vinh Long province, after checking the documents and conducting field surveys, meeting with farmers, we affirmed that Thuan An commune maintains 19 criteria for an advanced NTM commune according to the new set of criteria and meets 5/5 criteria for a model NTM commune.

In implementing the self-selection criteria, the commune met all 3 criteria (education, culture and security and order), while the requirement was only to meet 1 of the 3 criteria.

The Chief of the Office of the Provincial New Rural Development Program Coordination said that compared to Thuan An commune 4 years ago - when the commune achieved advanced new rural standards, the rural appearance of the commune has now changed very positively, people's lives have been improved, many effective production models have brought efficiency and high income to farmers.

The most outstanding feature is that in implementing environmental criteria, the commune has arranged enough trash bins and trash pits to collect pesticide packaging and household waste. In addition, the commune has the most beautiful flower street on DT910 in the province so far.

The flower road of Thuan An commune is a practical proof that when the Party and the people are united, the road to the village becomes more beautiful.

And not only flower streets, there are also projects that the State and the People do together, policies born from the urgent needs of the people... This shows that when the Party's will matches the people's will, the new countryside will become more prosperous and innovative!

Mr. Nguyen Thanh Can - Chairman of Binh Minh Town People's Committee (Vinh Long province) said that in 2023, the town will focus on building Thuan An commune to meet the standards of a model new-style rural commune.

At the same time, improve the criteria of advanced NTM communes and model NTM hamlets. Currently, Binh Minh Town has 5/5 communes meeting advanced NTM standards, of which Thuan An is the first commune in the province to meet the standards of a model new rural commune.
