Lai Chau meets and assigns tasks to communes and wards after merger

On the morning of June 22, Lai Chau province held a meeting and assigned tasks to the Party committees and authorities of communes and wards to arrange and merge.

According to Resolution No. 1670, dated June 16, 2025 of the National Assembly Standing Committee, Lai Chau province will rearrange 106 existing commune-level administrative units and establish 38 new communes and wards. Lai Chau province has reviewed and appointed Party committees, Standing Committees and key positions of commune-level Party committees for the 2025-2030 term.

At the meeting, Standing Deputy Secretary of Lai Chau Provincial Party Committee Vu Manh Ha requested the Party Executive Committees of the merged communes and wards to urgently develop Working Regulations suitable to the practical situation of the locality; assign specific tasks to the Standing Committee, Standing Committee, and Executive Committee in the direction of clearly defining people, clearly defining tasks, authority, responsibility, and work handling procedures.

Focus on perfecting the organization of Party committees, authorities, the Fatherland Front and mass organizations; perfecting the leadership positions of local authorities according to their authority. At the same time, continue to promote information and propaganda, create consensus among cadres, civil servants, public employees, party members and people on the arrangement and streamlining of the apparatus and administrative units, contributing to creating favorable conditions for the new apparatus to operate stably.

Vice Chairman of Lai Chau Provincial People's Council Chu Le Chinh also thoroughly grasped and assigned tasks to the People's Councils of communes and wards after the arrangement and merger.

Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front of Lai Chau province Sung A Ho thoroughly grasped and assigned tasks to the Fatherland Fronts of communes and wards after the arrangement and merger.

Emphasizing the implementation of two-level local government and the merger of communes this time is large-scale, complex, and unprecedented. The new communes and wards will perform all the work of the previous commune level and about 80% of the current district level work.

In this context, the role of key leaders at the commune level is especially important, determining the effectiveness of the organizational apparatus and the successful implementation of the Party's guidelines and the State's policies and laws.

The leaders of the People's Council and the People's Committee of the province requested that key officials at the commune level continue to promote the achieved results, improve their qualifications, qualities, and capacities, promote the central role of solidarity, and work together to overcome difficulties and effectively implement political tasks.
