EVN works with Long An province leaders on electricity supply situation

On EVN's side, the meeting was attended by EVN Board of Members member Cao Quang Quynh and leaders of Southern Power Corporation (EVNSPC) and Long An Power Company.

According to the report of Long An Power Company (PCLA), in 2023, the total electricity output will be more than 8 billion 314 million kWh, an increase of nearly 1.5% compared to 2022. In the Southern region, in the first 3 months of the year, electricity output increased by 12.64% over the same period. In which, Long An and the provinces of Binh Duong, Dong Nai, Ba Ria - Vung Tau account for nearly 60% of the electricity output of 21 southern localities under EVNSPC (except Ho Chi Minh City) and all have an increase in electricity consumption of more than 10%.

Regarding investment in construction of transmission works to operate the power grid, in 2024, EVNSPC assigned the investment promotion plan to PCLA with a total capital of more than 568 billion VND, of which, the distribution power grid project is more than 466 billion VND with 60 projects. EVNSPC's Project Management Boards are investing in the 110kV power grid in 2024-2025 in Long An province with 21 110kV power grid projects with a total investment of about 2,154 billion VND.

At the meeting, the two sides discussed a number of issues related to electricity supply, the plan to implement the Prime Minister 's direction on increasing electricity saving in 2024; difficulties and obstacles in investing in the construction of the electricity system in the province.

Speaking at the meeting, Mr. Cao Quang Quynh requested the Long An Provincial People's Committee to support EVN in investment and construction work, and promptly approve investment policies so that EVN can complete its task of supplying electricity in the province. The Provincial People's Committee also supports EVN, directing departments and branches to save electricity according to Directive No. 20/CT-TTg dated June 8, 2023 of the Prime Minister, especially electricity for public lighting.

In response to EVN's recommendations, Vice Chairman of Long An Provincial People's Committee - Huynh Van Son requested departments, branches and localities to strengthen supervision of electricity saving implementation, and report on this work monthly. Assign the Department of Industry and Trade to coordinate with Long An Electricity Company to consult the Provincial People's Committee to issue regulations on electricity saving for early implementation throughout the province.

The Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee highly appreciated the electricity sector for performing well the task of supplying electricity to the locality in the past time. The province always supports the electricity sector and helps to remove difficulties in the construction of power projects according to regulations. The province is also reviewing according to the Government's direction on actual planning investment in the area to issue specific action programs. The province also recommends to the Government to better coordinate with EVN to soon complete the tasks assigned by the Party and the State./.
