Gold price today June 13: Soared back to over 120.5 million VND per tael

On the morning of June 13, the world gold price increased sharply to 3,420 USD/ounce. In total, after one day, the precious metal increased by 50 USD. Domestically, the price of gold bars at Saigon Jewelry Company - SJC increased by 1.5 million VND, bringing the buying price to 118.5 million VND, and the selling price to 120.5 million VND. Converted according to Vietcombank exchange rate, the world gold price is equivalent to 108 million VND/tael (excluding taxes and fees). Currently, each tael of SJC gold bar is 12.5 million VND/tael more expensive than the world price.

SJC also increased the price of 4-number 9 gold rings by 1 million VND, buying at 113.5 million VND and selling at 116 million VND. Similarly, Phu Nhuan Jewelry Company (PNJ) increased the price by 900,000 VND for buying to 113.5 million VND and increasing the price by 1 million VND for selling to 116.2 million VND; Doji Group increased the price of gold rings by 1 million VND to 115 million VND and selling at 117 million VND...

Gold prices rose after cooling US economic data raised investors' expectations that the US Federal Reserve (Fed) would cut interest rates. US data released yesterday showed that producer prices (PPI) rose less than expected in May. Meanwhile, the number of Americans filing for unemployment benefits remained unchanged at a higher level last week as labor market conditions continued to deteriorate. A day earlier, the consumer price index (CPI) for May was released lower than expected.

Investors now see an 80% chance the Fed will cut rates in September, with a second cut as early as October, compared with a December forecast before the PPI data.

In addition, rising geopolitical risks as tensions in the Middle East escalate also pushed gold prices up. According to CNBC, President Donald Trump said the US is moving personnel out of the Middle East because it “could be a dangerous place”.../.
