According to the Turkish newspaper Yenicag Gazetesi , the Portuguese coach left Fenerbahce and left behind a huge bill of up to 36.5 million lira (equivalent to 656,000 pounds) at the Four Seasons, one of the most luxurious hotels in Istanbul.
Mourinho spent more than 15 months at Fenerbahce living almost full-time at this hotel. The luxury apartments here cost thousands of pounds a night, are equipped with high-end furniture and come with many expensive services.
Sources say Fenerbahce will have to pay all of Mourinho's accommodation costs, as this may be a clause in the contract. However, this information has angered the team's fans, especially after the club had to pay £13 million in compensation to Mourinho for terminating his contract early. Previously, the original contract between the two parties was due to expire in 2026.
Mourinho was sacked in August, shortly after Fenerbahce were knocked out of the Champions League play-offs by Benfica, the club he now manages.
This is not the first time Mourinho has chosen to live in a hotel instead of buying a house. During his time at Manchester United, he stayed for many years at the Lowry Hotel, spending more than £500,000 on accommodation.
