Fernandes could leave MU in the summer of 2026. |
Fernandes admitted in November that manager Ruben Amorim persuaded him to stay at Manchester United last summer, despite a £100 million offer from Al-Hilal. However, the midfielder also felt hurt that the club's leadership were willing to let him go if they received a reasonable price.
"I felt like the club thought it was okay if I left. That made me very sad," Fernandes once shared. "I believe they didn't have the courage to stand by the manager in the decision to keep me."
Since then, Fernandes has stated that he will only discuss his future after the 2026 World Cup in the USA, Mexico, and Canada. However, many Manchester United players believe that his decision has almost certainly been made.
A source within the club said: "Bruno is exhausted. He has always given 100% and has been the club's best player for many years. But he feels betrayed by the new management model and Amorim's departure has only made things worse."
Fernandes isn't the type of player easily swayed by the huge sums of money from Saudi Arabia, but his desire to play in a stable, top-level competitive environment is undeniable.
Having joined MU from Sporting in 2020 for £46.6 million, Fernandes' contract runs until 2027. At this point, Fernandes' future at Old Trafford is more uncertain than ever.
