Continuing the momentum, Flamengo entered the Brazilian Super Cup (Supercopa do Brasil) against the reigning national champions and Libertadores - Botafogo - and won on February 2, 2025. Now, as Flamengo step onto the world stage at the FIFA Club World Cup 2025™, all eyes are on Filipe Luis - no longer the hard-working left-back on the pitch, but the tactical architect on the touchline. In their opening match, Flamengo defeated Esperance de Tunis - the representative from Tunisia - 2-0 on the morning of June 17.

There is no doubt that Flamengo are clearly the favorites, not only because of the quality of their players but also because of the clear identity that the young coach has managed to portray. The developments on the pitch also showed the superiority of the Brazilian club - the team controlled the ball 69%, creating an xG (expected goals ratio) of up to 1.24.
