Arsenal went into the match against Leeds Utd with a number of personnel changes. Bukayo Saka was on the bench, Gabriel Jesus returned to the starting lineup for the first time since November 2022.
Arsenal started quite slowly, while Leeds Utd, although only holding the ball about 35% in the first 20 minutes, had 3 shots on target, forcing goalkeeper Ramsdale to show his talent.
However, with the luck of the top team, Arsenal found a lucky opening goal. In the 35th minute, Jesus skillfully handled the ball, forcing Luke Ayling to commit a foul in the penalty area. The Brazilian striker successfully converted the penalty. The first half ended 1-0.
Gabriel Jesus shows his worth on his return
In the second half, Arsenal started the game with a higher speed, leaving Leeds Utd unable to react. In the 46th minute, Martinelli broke through and crossed for Ben White to tap in close to the goal, scoring the second goal for the home team.
Not stopping there, just 9 minutes later, Gabriel Jesus continued to shine. This time, he coordinated very well with Leandro Trossard, before finishing with a close-range finish to increase the score to 3-0. Notably, this was the first match that Jesus returned to the starting lineup after recovering from a knee injury he suffered in November 2022.
Leeds Utd made a brief comeback late in the second half. Their efforts were rewarded with a goal from Kristensen in the 75th minute. However, just 10 minutes later, the visitors' glimmer of hope was extinguished with a goal from Granit Xhaka after a beautiful assist from Martin Odegaard.
Winning 4-1, Arsenal continued to maintain an 8-point gap with the chasing team - Man City on the Premier League rankings. This was the Gunners' 7th consecutive victory in the Premier League. If they maintain this form, coach Mikel Arteta and his team will likely win the championship a few rounds early.
