Nearly 1,000 young chess players compete enthusiastically at the South Central region Student Chess Tournament
TPO - The 2025 South Central Region Open Chess Tournament for Students is an activity aimed at developing intelligence, training discipline and sportsmanship for the young generation. The tournament attracted 960 young chess players from kindergarten to junior high school in Khanh Hoa province and neighboring provinces in the South Central region.

On October 19, the Young Pioneers and Children Newspaper, the Vietnam Chess Federation and the Khanh Hoa Department of Education and Training jointly organized the 2025 South Central Region Open Chess Tournament for Students. The tournament attracted 960 young players from kindergarten to junior high school in Khanh Hoa province and neighboring provinces in the South Central region. This is an annual activity to develop the school chess movement, and at the same time discover and nurture young talents.
The Student Chess Tournament is not only an attractive intellectual playground but also an opportunity for students to exchange, learn and nurture their passion for the king of sports , while encouraging logical thinking and practicing discipline.
Athletes will compete in the following categories: Rapid Chess, Individual Men's and Individual Women's according to age groups. The tournament is divided into Amateur Board (for players who have not won individual or team medals at the national level) and Advanced Board (from Grades 3 to 7).
The Organizing Committee will award a total of 374 individual and team prizes to encourage the competitive spirit and honor young talents. The individual prize structure includes: 1 Gold Medal (First Prize), 1 Silver Medal (Second Prize), 2 Bronze Medals (Third Prize), and 5 Encouragement Prizes for each age group and gender. Team rankings will be calculated by the Organizing Committee based on the competition results of individuals in the same team, same age group and gender.
