Standing at 1.7 meters tall and with natural talent, Tran Thi Loan is one of the brightest faces in Vietnamese athletics. With an impressive collection of medals in many tournaments and a positive lifestyle outside the training ground, this girl born in 2000 is aiming for new successes, especially at the 33rd SEA Games.

The road to athletics
Born and raised in Quang Nam, Tran Thi Loan began her professional sports journey at the age of 13 with a rather surprising starting point. Initially, she was discovered by local martial arts coaches thanks to her outstanding height. However, with a passion for running and jumping, Loan quickly switched to athletics.
"I came to sports thinking it was just for fun after achieving many achievements at school. Actually, when I was young, I dreamed of becoming a police officer because I thought it was cool in movies. I also like being a model and until now I still hope to have the opportunity to try it once," Loan shared about her unfocused beginning.
After more than a decade of persistent training, the female athlete currently working for Da Nang has achieved remarkable results: 1 gold medal at the National Championship, 1 gold medal and 1 silver medal at the National Sports Festival, along with many medals at international youth tournaments. Currently, Loan is the golden hope of Vietnamese athletics in the two events of long jump and triple jump for women at the upcoming SEA Games.
Artist on the run
Possessing the dominant number 8 in her date of birth - the most dynamic number according to Numerology, Tran Thi Loan always tries to balance her life and maintain an optimistic spirit after stressful training hours.
"When I first started practicing professionally, I could say I was psychologically traumatized by dormitory life. Because I was at home, being taken care of by my family, I was transferred to an environment where I had to be independent in everything," Loan recalled.
To overcome the initial difficulties, the female athlete turned to artistic hobbies. With "9 talented hands" - as she humorously refers to her talent - Loan often spends time drawing comic book characters or planting and caring for flowers. These activities not only help her relax but also serve as a source of inspiration to maintain motivation in her sports career.
"I'm not really into sports, but up until now, I'm grateful to sports for giving me a job that allows me to support myself and ease the burden on my family," she confided.

Balancing books and running
Not only is she excellent on the track, Tran Thi Loan is also an example of balancing sports and studying. Currently, she has completed her university program and received a bachelor's degree in sports training.
Loan's learning journey was truly a big challenge. "My daily schedule at that time started from 4:30 a.m. to 9 p.m., alternating between practice - study - rest and then study - practice - rest," she said.
"There were nights when I got back to my room, I only had time to open and close the door and then fell asleep on the floor. My friends woke me up to get into bed properly but I had no energy and fell asleep right away," Loan added.
However, Loan affirmed that studying brought many practical values to her sports career. Knowledge of sports principles helped her improve her training and competition performance and especially prevent injuries - the obsession of every professional athlete.

Career priority
Beautiful, talented and versatile are what people often mention about Tran Thi Loan. However, in love, she is quite cautious because she is worried about affecting her career. This is the common mentality of many professional athletes when they need a partner who understands the pressure of work and the harsh schedule.
Entering 2025, Tran Thi Loan's biggest wish is to have enough health to surpass herself, jump further on the track and conquer new successes in the international arena, especially the upcoming 33rd SEA Games.
With talent, effort and optimism, Tran Thi Loan is gradually asserting herself as one of the bright stars of Vietnamese athletics, promising to bring much glory to the country's sports in the future.
