(HG) - Cantaloupe is a nutritious fruit, loved by many people. However, the selling price often fluctuates according to the season and the market. This year, due to the influence of many reasons, the demand for cantaloupe has decreased, causing the selling price to decrease as well.
Due to consumer demand, the selling price of melon increased to 3,500 VND/kg.
If the price of melons sold at the garden in July was 2,500-3,000 VND/kg, it has recently increased to 3,500 VND/kg, while the price sold at the markets is 4,500-6,000 VND/kg. This is the highest price in the past 5 months.
Mr. Nguyen Duy Khanh, in Hamlet 7, Vinh Vien A Commune, Long My District, said that his family grew 8 hectares of melons, each of which yielded about 3 tons. Although the yield was lower than the previous crop, the selling price increased by more than 1,000 VND/kg, so the profit was about 4 million VND.
Mr. Khanh said that to achieve such results, he had to take care of the melon vines very carefully, from choosing seeds, fertilizing, preventing pests, watering to harvesting and preserving. He also hopes that the selling price of melons will continue to remain stable or increase in the coming time so that growers can have higher income.
