Domestic coffee price list updated on the morning of April 20, 2025 |
According to experts, the world coffee price has started to decrease again after many consecutive increases and recently reached a short-term peak, which is also the law of the market. The main reason is that hedge funds and investors are taking advantage of profit taking after a long increase.
Market sentiment was also affected by cooling inflationary pressures and concerns about US consumption demand remaining vague. In addition, the recent strengthening of the US dollar was also a factor that put pressure on coffee prices.
According to expert Nguyen Quang Binh, the global coffee market's downward adjustment is understandable after seven consecutive sessions of increase. The main reason comes from the increase in inventories on international exchanges. In addition, many investors want to take profits and limit risks before the 2025 Easter holiday.
In Vietnam, drought in some areas of the Central Highlands is affecting this year’s coffee crop. Farmers in Dak Nong province are struggling to cope with drought and lack of irrigation water during the peak of the dry season.
Faced with the new situation, many businesses said they will adjust their business strategies to adapt, such as diversifying markets, promoting on-site exports, and increasing product value... to avoid being passive.
Despite the short-term adjustment in coffee prices, Vietnam's coffee exports in the first quarter of 2025 still achieved impressive results. According to the General Department of Customs, coffee export turnover reached 2.8 billion USD, up nearly 46% over the same period despite a decrease in output. This is the first time that coffee has surpassed seafood (2.3 billion USD) in export value and is only behind the wood industry in the group of agricultural, forestry and fishery products.
