Coffee price today 5/31/2025: Continue to decrease sharply

According to data from the Customs Department, in the first 15 days of May, Vietnam exported 66,503 tons of coffee, earning 387.6 million USD. Compared to the same period last year, exports increased by 50.7% in volume and 112.3% in value.

From the beginning of the year to May 15, 2025, Vietnam exported 736,583 tons of coffee with a turnover of 4.2 billion USD. Although the export volume decreased by 5.6%, the value increased sharply by 56.6%, the highest increase ever, thanks to the high coffee prices in the international market.

However, exports in the early 2024–2025 crop year were low, at only about 12.15 million bags, down 23% year-on-year. The main reason was not a lack of supply, but rather farmers and businesses were hoarding goods, waiting for prices to rise amid strong market fluctuations. However, with supplies from other countries increasing rapidly, the hoarding strategy also carries many risks if prices do not recover as expected in the near future.

World coffee prices today

Coffee prices on the world market decreased slightly on two floors:

Robusta Coffee (London):

Delivery in July 2025: Down 73 USD/ton, to 4,493 USD/ton.

Delivery September 2025: Down 87 USD/ton, to 4,443 USD/ton.

Arabica Coffee (New York):

July 2025 delivery: Down 4.95 cents/lb, to 343.45 cents/lb.

September 2025 delivery: Down 4.55 cents/lb, to 341.05 cents/lb.

Robusta supplies from new harvests in Indonesia and Brazil are putting downward pressure on prices, traders said. A trader in Vietnam said coffee from other markets is increasing rapidly, increasing competition.

On the Arabica side, Reuters technical analyst Want Tao forecasts prices could continue to fall to between 340 and 346 cents per pound in the coming time.

The market is also under pressure from forecasts from the Foreign Agricultural Service (FAS) of the US Department of Agriculture (USDA). Accordingly, Brazil's coffee output in the 2025-2026 crop year is expected to reach 65 million bags, up 0.5% compared to the previous crop year. Vietnam is also forecast to increase by 6.9%, to 31 million bags. Of which, Brazil is the world's largest producer of arabica, while Vietnam leads in robusta.
