Da Nang tourism opens doors to the Muslim market

(QNO) - It is expected that from June 2, 2025, Emirates International Airlines will operate a flight route connecting Dubai - Bangkok - Da Nang, marking an important step in enhancing trade and tourism between the Middle East and Southeast Asia.

Take the initiative

To prepare to welcome international tourists from the Middle East and CIS countries, especially after Emirates Airlines announced the operation of the Dubai - Bangkok - Da Nang route from June 2, 2025, Da Nang city has proactively and synchronously deployed many solutions.

Da Nang tourism industry has designed and published a tourism handbook providing market information, service instructions and proposing the implementation of new tourism products to serve Halal tourists.

At the same time, organize training courses for tourism industry staff on Islamic culture and Middle Eastern tourist service skills to improve the quality of human resources; strengthen promotional activities, promote the development of international tourist markets exploited through new flight routes...

In addition, on April 30, 2025, at the Arabian Travel Market (ATM) International Tourism Fair in Dubai, Emirates signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Sun Group to coordinate joint marketing and promotion campaigns.

This will introduce Vietnam as a leading tourism destination in Emirates' global network. The two sides plan to organize experiential programs for media representatives and travel agents from key markets, to raise awareness of the diversity of Vietnam's tourism products.

To ensure safety and service quality for new flights, Da Nang International Airport has coordinated with Emirates to survey and upgrade operating areas, deploy an automatic immigration control system (autogate) and strengthen rescue and relief work to ensure absolute safety for passengers.

Mr. Tan Van Vuong - Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Da Nang City said that most of the passengers on this flight are high-quality passengers. The activation of this flight route aims to concretize the efforts of the government and some businesses in Da Nang in recent times to establish products and services to target this market.

As scheduled, flight EK370 will depart from Dubai at 09:00 (local time), transit in Bangkok and land in Da Nang at 21:50 (local time).

In the opposite direction, flight EK371 will depart from Da Nang at 23:30, connecting via Bangkok and arriving in Dubai at 06:50 the following morning. Emirates uses a modern Boeing 777-300ER aircraft with a configuration of 35 business class seats and 368 economy class seats (serving 4 flights per week on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays).

Step by step opening up the Muslim market

Possessing the advantage of a pleasant climate, beach resorts with a system of high-class resorts and villas , Halal services , luxury yachts , coastal golf courses and unique cultural and historical destinations, Da Nang is quickly positioning itself as an ideal destination for Middle Eastern tourists who love privacy and high-class resort experiences .

In particular, the Middle East's long summer with high temperatures has caused the demand for sun-avoiding tourism at destinations like Da Nang to increase sharply.

Combined with the friendliness and hospitality of Vietnamese people and the standardized tourism service system, Da Nang has all the conditions to become an ideal destination for family and long-term vacations for Middle Eastern guests in the summer of 2025.

In 2024, the number of visitors to Da Nang from the Middle East market will reach more than 17,400 (mainly visitors from Israel, Arab countries, and Iran).

As of January 2025, the number of visitors from Middle Eastern countries to Da Nang was 3,036 (accounting for 0.7% of the international visitor structure to Da Nang), of which the majority were visitors from Arab countries, Israel, and Türkiye.

According to the representative of the Danang Tourism Promotion Center (Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Danang City), not only targeting the Middle East, Danang is also actively exploiting other potential markets such as CIS (Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan...) , with charter flights from Astana and Almaty, operating from April to October 2025, contributing to enriching the flow of international visitors to the city.

Emirates' launch of a new route to Da Nang not only shortens the journey between the Middle East and Da Nang, Vietnam, but also opens up opportunities to welcome tourists from countries in the Middle East such as the UAE, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, as well as European markets connecting via the Dubai hub such as the UK, France, Germany, Russia... and Thailand.

The event is expected to trigger a new wave of tourism from the Middle East and Europe, and at the same time create an important boost to help Da Nang's tourism industry make a strong breakthrough, gradually affirming its position as an attractive destination for tourists, aiming to diversify the market and improve the quality of services to welcome international visitors.
