Asian rubber prices fluctuated amid signs of improved supply and trade concerns from the US. Domestically, rubber prices remained stable, with no changes recorded compared to previous sessions.

World rubber price

At the end of the trading session on August 6, in China, the August rubber futures price on the Shanghai Futures Exchange (SHFE) remained unchanged at 14,460 yuan/ton. In Thailand, the August rubber futures price increased by 0.1% (0.04 baht) to 71.52 baht/kg. Meanwhile, the Japanese market (OSE) decreased by 0.7% (2.2 yen) to 322.8 yen/kg.

Japanese rubber futures fell on Thursday as weather conditions improved in key Southeast Asian producing regions, although hopes of a recovery in auto sales in China helped limit losses, Reuters reported.

Rubber price today 78 Mixed developments due to supply concerns

Major rubber producing countries such as Thailand and Vietnam have seen gradually stable weather since late July, resulting in less rain disruptions in rubber tapping and increased raw material supplies in line with the seasonal cycle, according to brokerage Hengyin Futures.

However, the Thai Meteorological Department warned that from August 10 to 12, many areas may still experience thunderstorms, gusty winds and localized heavy rain.

On the positive side, the China Passenger Car Association raised its sales growth forecast for the year to 6%, compared to the 5% forecast in June. The reason is that the number of vehicles delivered to both domestic and international markets exceeded expectations.

The prospect of stronger auto sales could boost vehicle production, which consumes large amounts of tires made from natural rubber.

In the related commodity market, crude oil prices are a strong factor affecting rubber prices due to the competitive relationship between natural rubber and synthetic rubber (produced from petroleum) - which has rebounded from a five-week low due to concerns about supply disruptions after US President Donald Trump threatened to impose additional tariffs on Indian goods because the country continues to buy oil from Russia.

Meanwhile, in Malaysia, the rubber market ended the trading day on August 6 with mixed developments, similar to the trend of the futures market in the region, according to information shared by a trader with Bernama news agency.

“Oil prices rebounded after hitting a five-week low the previous day, amid concerns over supply disruptions as US President Donald Trump threatened to impose tariffs on India over its purchases of Russian crude,” traders said.

However, the rubber market's upside momentum is limited due to the uncertain global economic outlook, especially from uncertainties related to US trade policy.

The US trade deficit narrowed in June thanks to a sharp decline in imports of consumer goods, while the trade deficit with China fell to its lowest level in more than 21 years – showing that Mr Trump’s tough tariff policies are having a major impact on global trade.

At the end of the trading session, the Malaysian Rubber Board (MRB) said the price of standard rubber SMR 20 increased by 4 sen to 724.00 sen/kg, while the price of loose latex decreased by 1.5 sen to 565.50 sen/kg.

Domestic rubber price

Domestically, businesses stabilize rubber prices. Specifically, Phu Rieng Company offers to purchase mixed latex at 390 VND/DRC, and liquid latex at 420 VND/TSC.

Similarly, other businesses stabilize rubber prices. Specifically, at Binh Long Company, the rubber purchase price at the Factory is 409 VND/TSC/kg, the purchase price at the production team is 399 VND/TSC/kg, and the price of mixed latex (DRC 60%) is 14,000 VND/kg.

At MangYang Company, the purchase price of latex is about 392 - 396 VND/TSC (type 2-type 1), mixed latex is about 352 - 401 VND/DRC (type 2-type 1).

Ba Ria Rubber Company also reported a stable purchase price of liquid latex at 385 VND/TSC degree/kg (applied to TSC degrees from 25 to under 30); DRC coagulated latex (35 - 44%) at 12,300 VND/kg, raw latex recorded at 15,300 - 16,500 VND/kg.
