According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, there are currently 269 industrial animal feed production facilities nationwide producing complete mixed feed.

Of these, 90 factories are owned by FDI enterprises and 179 factories are owned by domestic enterprises. The total demand for concentrated feed in the entire livestock industry is approximately 33 million tons/year, mainly used for pig and poultry farming.

To meet this demand, Vietnam needs a very large quantity of concentrated feed ingredients, but domestic production capacity only meets about 13 million tons/year (accounting for about 35% of the total demand), with the remainder coming from imports (accounting for about 65%).

For key feed additives and supplements (vitamins, amino acids, etc.), Vietnam has to import up to 80% due to a lack of manufacturing technology, a small consumer market, and a failure to attract investment.
