According to a survey at flower shops on Kim Ma and Nguyen Phong Sac streets and Quang Ba flower market in Hanoi, the demand for fresh flower bouquets and flower baskets increased sharply on the occasion of Vietnamese Teachers' Day, November 20. In addition, the supply of fresh flowers was affected by storms, causing the price of this item to skyrocket.
The price of fresh flowers recorded on November 19 increased by about 20-30%, in some places up to 50% compared to normal days. For example, Ecuadorian roses cost 130,000-150,000 VND/flower; Dutch tulips cost 100,000-120,000 VND/flower; lilies cost 250,000-350,000 VND/bunch/10 branches. Some fresh flower baskets that normally cost 300,000 VND now cost 500,000 VND/bunch...

Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Ha, owner of a flower shop on Kim Ma Street, said that the price of flowers imported from the wholesale market increases every day near the occasion of November 20. The price is higher than usual because the supply has decreased due to weather fluctuations. In recent days, the shop has had to mobilize more flower arrangers to meet the many orders on the occasion of gratitude to teachers.
In addition to traditional fresh flower bouquets, gift baskets combining fresh flowers and fruits continue to be a popular choice for many consumers thanks to their uniqueness, eye-catching and practicality. Flower shops say that customers often prefer imported fruit baskets because of their beautiful designs, longer shelf life, and suitability as gifts.

Despite the price increase, many students, parents and agencies still choose fresh flowers as gifts to express their feelings and gratitude to teachers. Some stores said they prioritize moderately priced bouquets so that customers have more options to suit their budget.
To show gratitude to teachers on November 20, Nguyen Tu Anh, a student at Hanoi Law University, chose carefully, and added the idea of combining flowers with leaves that create a pleasant fragrance, succulents, and cacti that are both durable and add green accents.
"Although the price of flowers today is higher than usual, I think it's worth it. Through the fresh flowers, I want to send my deep thanks to the teachers - the people who gave me solid knowledge before starting work," Tu Anh shared.

Traders at Quang Ba flower market said that November 20 this year coincides with October 1 of the lunar calendar, so the demand for fresh flowers has increased sharply, pushing up prices. Ms. Loan, the owner of a flower stall at the market, said: "Usually I have to sell until the evening to sell out, but today (November 19), the flowers were all sold out by noon. People's demand has increased so the prices have also increased a bit, after November 20 they will return to normal levels...".

Market experts predict that fresh flower prices will remain high until November 20 before stabilizing. However, the gratitude atmosphere during the major holiday of the education sector still helps the fresh flower market maintain its excitement and bustle.
