Along with that, organize propaganda and disseminate a set of guidelines for localities, businesses and people to implement necessary activities to adapt to the European Union (EU) regulations on zero deforestation (EUDR) in Gia Lai province.
At the same time, create a strong change in awareness and action in the Agriculture and Rural Development sector to ensure the construction of production areas that do not cause deforestation or forest degradation, contributing to sustainable production combined with the goals of resource conservation, sustainable protection of natural forest ecosystems and ensuring social security in the locality.
Based on the contents of the issued plan, the Provincial People's Committee also requested departments, branches and localities to focus on disseminating and popularizing EUDR regulations to management agencies at all levels, organizations, businesses, communities and people; building provincial and district-level databases on areas where products are grown and produced that are affected by EUDR regulations; building and implementing traceability activities along the supply chain to the region, linked to locating points (Points) and digital boundaries (Polygons) of each garden for industries affected by EUDR; implementing forest protection management, monitoring forest fluctuations, inventorying and monitoring forest changes and building a database of forest status maps; building sustainable livelihood conversion models in risky areas...
To effectively implement the proposed solutions, the Provincial People's Committee requests departments, branches, sectors, People's Committees of districts, towns and cities and requests the Provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee and socio- political organizations of the province to coordinate to synchronously and effectively implement the contents stated in the plan.
In particular, the Provincial People's Committee assigned the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development to preside over and coordinate with relevant departments, branches, and local units to disseminate EUDR regulations and guidance documents to forest owners and other relevant units for implementation. Mobilize resources from donors, aid, and use ODA capital projects from international organizations to effectively implement the plan; at the same time, based on the database of forests and areas creating commodity products affected by the regulations, identify areas with high, medium, and low risk of deforestation to propose appropriate solutions in forest management, protection, and restoration.
On the other hand, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development strengthens coordination in inspecting and supporting enterprises, organizations, and households in implementing production, business, and consumption activities of agricultural and forestry products affected by EUDR regulations in the direction of: maintaining and continuing to develop the value chain of sustainable goods supply without causing deforestation or forest degradation; complying with other relevant requirements on environment, labor, and conservation of the current status of resources in commodity production areas according to the criteria of the certification/inspection system; combining and integrating the implementation of projects of international organizations to support conversion and improve livelihoods for people living in and adjacent to forests; establishing a traceability system, supporting livelihoods and sustainable production to meet regulations.
