On the New York floor, Arabica coffee prices increased again. Specifically, the December 2025 futures increased by 0.93% (3.65 US cents/pound) to 397.45 US cents/pound, while the March 2026 futures increased by 0.59% (2.2 US cents/pound) to 371.15 US cents/pound.

On the Brazilian exchange, Arabica coffee prices recorded mixed developments between terms. The December 2025 contract decreased by 0.67% to 473.5 US cents/pound, the March 2026 contract decreased slightly by 0.44% to 464.35 US cents/pound, while the May 2026 contract increased by 0.32% (1.45 US cents/pound) to 453.7 US cents/pound.

On the morning of October 20, the Central Highlands coffee market maintained the same price as on October 19, fluctuating from 113,500 - 114,500 VND/kg. Compared to the beginning of last week, this price increased slightly by 500 - 700 VND/kg.

In Dak Lak province, the current coffee purchase price is 114,500 VND/kg - the highest in the region and unchanged from October 19.

Trading prices in Gia Lai continued to stay at 114,000 VND/kg, while in Lam Dong, the price of 113,500 VND/kg remained stable compared to the previous session.

According to expert Nguyen Quang Binh, the increase in coffee prices last week mainly stemmed from changes in trade policies between countries. He said that the imposition of a 50% import tax on Arabica coffee from Brazil had prompted investors to increase purchases, causing global coffee inventories to fall to a 19-month low.

Limited supply has caused world coffee prices to continue to increase. In this context, Vietnam's Robusta coffee is benefiting from a more competitive price compared to Arabica, opening up positive growth opportunities for the industry in the coming time.

Pepper prices are stable

According to the update at 5:00 a.m. on October 20, domestic pepper prices remained unchanged, continuing to stay at 144,000 - 146,000 VND/kg.

In Dak Lak, pepper was purchased at 146,000 VND/kg, the same as yesterday.

In Lam Dong, the price of 146,000 VND/kg is also maintained stable.

Pepper price in Gia Lai remains unchanged at 144,000 VND/kg, while in Ho Chi Minh City and Dong Nai it is at 145,000 VND/kg, with no recorded fluctuations.

According to the International Pepper Community (IPC), as of October 19, 2025, pepper prices in many countries remained unchanged compared to the previous session.

In Indonesia, Lampung black pepper price remained at 7,228 USD/ton, while Muntok white pepper remained at 10,085 USD/ton.

Brazilian black pepper ASTA 570 price remained unchanged at USD 6,100/mt.

Malaysia maintained ASTA black pepper price at USD 9,500/ton, while ASTA white pepper remained at USD 12,500/ton.

Vietnamese pepper prices continue to be stable: black pepper 500 gr/l at 6,400 USD/ton, 550 gr/l at 6,600 USD/ton, and white pepper at 9,050 USD/ton.

This week, domestic pepper prices decreased by 2,000 to 4,000 VND/kg. In the Central Highlands, Dak Lak, Gia Lai and Lam Dong provinces all decreased by 2,000 VND/kg compared to the beginning of last week.

The Southeast region recorded a similar decrease in Dong Nai, while Ho Chi Minh City had the sharpest decrease - 4,000 VND/kg.

This decline helps stabilize the market temporarily, bringing more security to pepper growers, creating conditions for farmers to proactively produce and avoid dumping when prices suddenly drop.

However, the stagnant world pepper prices have narrowed the profit margins of exporting enterprises. If the downward trend in the international market continues, the domestic market may face adjustment pressure as enterprises limit purchases.
