World coffee price developments

On the London market, at 5:00 a.m. on May 20, 2025, Robusta coffee prices suddenly rebounded after a series of declines, increasing from 95 - 108 USD/ton, fluctuating around 4,738 - 5,006 USD/ton.

The contract price for July 2025 delivery is currently 4,973 USD/ton; September 2025 is 4,962 USD/ton; November 2025 is 4,923 USD/ton and January 2026 is 4,849 USD/ton.

At the same time, on the New York floor, Arabica coffee prices also tended to recover, recording an increase of 8 - 9.05 cents/lb, fluctuating between 351.65 - 377.05 cents/lb.

Specific prices include: July 2025 at 374.70 cents/lb; September 2025 at 371.45 cents/lb; December 2025 at 365.85 cents/lb and March 2026 at 359.70 cents/lb.

At the end of the trading session, the price of Brazilian Arabica coffee had a slight adjustment in terms compared to yesterday's session, fluctuating between 440.45 - 479.90 USD/ton.

Specifically, the delivery price for May 2025 is 475.85 USD/ton; for July 2025 is 471.20 USD/ton; for September 2025 is 460.75 USD/ton and for December 2025 is 446.65 USD/ton.

Domestic coffee prices slightly decreased

Recorded at 5:00 a.m. this morning, May 20, 2025, coffee prices in the Central Highlands region decreased slightly by 500 - 700 VND/kg compared to the previous trading session, currently averaging 124,500 VND/kg.

Specifically in each locality: Dak Lak and Gia Lai both recorded 124,500 VND/kg; Lam Dong reached 123,800 VND/kg; and Dak Nong was slightly higher with a price of 124,700 VND/kg.

In the export sector, Vietnamese coffee is facing challenges from new tax policies in the US market. However, the impact is considered not too serious because the market share of coffee exports to the US accounts for only more than 8% of total turnover.
Experts predict that Vietnam's coffee export turnover in 2025 can still reach the 7 billion USD mark, a record high ever.

From April 10 to May 12, 2025, the coffee export market to the US recorded many fluctuations due to the reciprocal tax policy, but the impact on the whole industry was still well controlled.

One notable point is that the trend of domestic coffee prices in recent times has not followed the traditional rules. Instead of cooling down during the peak harvest season from November to April, this year's coffee prices have increased sharply during this period.
Since late April, prices have begun to show a downward trend even though the harvest season has ended, reflecting the impact of unusual factors related to supply, demand and global trade policy.

Pepper prices remain stable

According to the update at 5:00 a.m. on May 20, 2025, the domestic pepper market continued to remain stable at a high level, with Gia Lai continuing to decrease by another 1,000 VND/kg compared to the previous session. The average pepper price is currently at 151,600 VND/kg in key localities.

In Gia Lai, pepper prices continued to decrease compared to the previous session, currently recorded at 150,000 VND/kg.

Pepper prices in the two provinces of Ba Ria - Vung Tau and Binh Phuoc have not fluctuated much, currently being purchased at 151,000 VND/kg.

In Dak Lak and Dak Nong, pepper prices also remained stable compared to the previous session, currently traders are purchasing at 153,000 VND/kg.

World pepper prices fluctuate little

According to the International Pepper Community (IPC) announced at 5:00 a.m. on May 20, 2025, the global pepper market remained unchanged compared to yesterday's session.

Lampung (Indonesia) black pepper price is currently at 7,301 USD/ton; while Muntok white pepper is traded at 10,051 USD/ton.

In Malaysia, ASTA black pepper price remained stable at USD 9,200/ton, while ASTA white pepper was priced at USD 11,900/ton.

Pepper prices in Brazil remained unchanged from the previous session, currently at $6,800 per tonne.

Vietnam's pepper export market remains stable; the price of 500 g/l black pepper is currently at 6,700 USD/ton, 550 g/l is 6,800 USD/ton; white pepper is priced at 9,700 USD/ton.

Domestic pepper prices are still high, which is explained by the fact that post-harvest volumes have begun to decline. It is forecasted that in the second quarter of 2025, major markets such as the Middle East and Europe will increase import demand, causing even greater supply pressure.

However, domestic purchasing power has not improved, the domestic consumer market is quite quiet, so prices have not been able to break out as expected. From now until the end of the year, the supply-demand balance is considered the decisive factor in market trends. In the context of limited global supply, pepper prices may recover in the medium and long term.

In the short term, domestic pepper prices are expected to remain high, fluctuating around 150,000 - 152,000 VND/kg. Pepper growers should closely monitor weather and productivity factors to have appropriate and highly effective production plans.
