About a month ago, due to the impact of prolonged rainstorms, the production of many agricultural products decreased, leading to a sharp increase in prices, with some items rising by over 50%.
Currently, prices of many agricultural products have decreased significantly, but chili prices remain high, much to the delight of farmers. At one point, the price of bird's eye chili reached a record high of 150,000 VND/kg, nearly 10 times higher than the same period last year.

The high price of chili peppers has helped farmers increase their income, creating an incentive to expand production in a sustainable direction, contributing to the promotion of agricultural economic development in the locality.
Farmer Tran Van Doi (Ngai Hiep hamlet, Hung My commune), who has nearly 30 years of experience growing chili peppers, said: "This year, prices have reached the highest level ever. My family cultivates 5 acres of chili peppers, including bird's eye chili and yellow horn chili, which take about 2.5 months to harvest."
About a week ago, when chili prices reached 150,000 VND/kg, it was the beginning of the season, and the yield wasn't high, with each harvest only around 50kg. Thanks to staggered planting, chili peppers are harvested twice a week, ensuring a continuous income stream.
Currently, yields have increased from 100-150 kg/harvest, with an average yield of about 1 ton per hectare of chili peppers. With current prices ranging from 90,000-110,000 VND/kg, the profit is approximately 80 million VND per hectare.
In the same Ngai Hiep hamlet, farmer Nguyen Van A said: Although the current price of chili peppers has decreased compared to its peak, thanks to the peak harvest season and increased production, profits remain quite stable. His family currently cultivates 2 acres of chili peppers, and with the current selling price, chili growers predict they will continue to achieve relatively high profits in the coming period.
According to Mr. Tran Truong Giang, Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Environment, the application of new technical advancements in production and the cultivation of cash crops in rice paddies are increasingly attracting the attention and expansion of farmers.
By 2025, the total area planted with vegetables, short-term industrial crops, and other annual crops in the province will reach 124,470 hectares, an increase of 1,099 hectares compared to 2020. The average yield will reach 25.47 tons/ha, with a total production of over 3.17 million tons, including key crops such as corn, sweet potatoes, watermelons, pumpkins, leafy vegetables, root vegetables, sugarcane, peanuts, chili peppers, etc.
Over 95% of the province's cultivated area uses new varieties; 30% applies production according to GAP standards and equivalents, meeting domestic consumption and export needs. Concentrated production areas have been formed and developed in most communes and wards throughout the province.
To develop agriculture rapidly, sustainably, and efficiently, the province has set out an agricultural production plan for the period 2026-2030, especially in the field of cash crops, short-term industrial crops, and other annual crops, covering 133,000 hectares with a production of 3.92 million tons.
