World market developments
As of November 26, the world steel and iron ore markets are showing signs of recovery. On the Shanghai Futures Exchange (SHFE), the price of rebar for delivery in July 2026 increased to 3,145 - 3,146 yuan/ton. Other products also increased in price, including hot-rolled coil (up nearly 0.7%), wire rod (up more than 1%) and stainless steel (up slightly).
Iron ore futures also recorded a recovery. The January contract on the Dalian Commodity Exchange rose to around 790-794 yuan/ton (equivalent to more than 111 USD/ton). On the Singapore Exchange, the benchmark iron ore price for December delivery rose to around 104.85-105.65 USD/ton.

Reasons for world steel price recovery
The rally in the steel and iron ore market is driven by several key factors:
- Policy from China: Proposal to reduce port fees for goods stored for less than 30 days is expected to increase inventory turnover, possibly tightening spot supply.
- Iron Ore Supply: According to analysis from ANZ and Galaxy Futures, the structural shortage of PB iron ore from Australia is supporting prices in the short term.
- Market sentiment: Markets reacted positively after a phone call between US President Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping raised hopes for trade relations.
However, other input materials had mixed developments. Metallurgical coal prices fell 1%, while coking coal rose nearly 1% due to a recovery in output in Shanxi province.
