Downward pressure:
Pepper prices are under pressure from US trade uncertainty, Iran-Israel conflict and up to 125% increase in shipping costs.
Import activities of enterprises have decreased, signing new contracts has become cautious due to unclear tariff policies.
Downward pressure is expected to continue in the short term.
Market demand:
Demand from some EU and US markets is showing signs of returning, especially for orders in Q4/2025 and Q1-II/2026.
Recovery could emerge by late Q3/2025.
Supply:
Indonesia forecasts a 20–30% drop in output due to climate change.
Brazil is expected to increase by 20%.
Global supply shortages could support pepper prices to rise again in the medium and long term.
Vietnam pepper exports:
In the first 5 months of 2025, pepper exports reached 99,900 tons, earning 690.4 million USD.
Compared to the same period last year, export volume decreased by 12.5% but value increased by 40.5%.
The reason is that the average export price increased by 61.1%, reaching 6,910 USD/ton.
Exports to the UK increased by 114%, the US increased by 34.8%, Germany increased by 73.7%, and India increased by 86.7%.
