Domestic pepper prices updated on the morning of May 3, 2025

On the morning of May 3, the domestic and international pepper markets recorded positive developments, reflecting a strong recovery after the previous difficult period. Domestic pepper prices remained stable and anchored at a high level; world pepper prices tended to fluctuate upward.

Vietnam’s pepper output is forecast to fall by about 2% year-on-year, while India’s output could fall by 20-25% due to unfavorable weather. Meanwhile, demand for pepper in the food and spice processing industries remains stable, especially in major markets such as the US and Europe.

Despite the positive outlook, the pepper market still faces some risks: Adverse climate conditions could affect pepper productivity and quality. Countries such as Indonesia, Brazil and Malaysia are also increasing pepper production and exports, creating competitive pressure for Vietnam.

Experts predict that with limited supply and stable consumption demand, pepper prices in the short term may continue to remain high or increase further. However, farmers and businesses need to pay attention to risk factors to have appropriate business strategies.

According to the Vietnam Pepper and Spice Association (VPSA), although pepper prices have increased compared to last year, pepper replanting has not been strong in the provinces because there is no new land or farmers are growing crops with higher economic value than pepper, so it is expected that the production area will be difficult to increase in 2025.
