However, due to the large supply in the main season, the price of custard apples is estimated to decrease by about 10-15% compared to the same period last year. This year's custard apple crop has an estimated economic value of over 1,500 billion VND.
Currently, the custard apple growing area in Lang Son province has reached 4,596 hectares, equal to 100.21% compared to the same period. The custard apple crop in 2025 is expected to be a good harvest, helping people increase their income and affirm the Lang Son custard apple brand in domestic and foreign markets.

Since the 1980s, custard apple trees have been planted experimentally by farmers in Lang Son, taking seeds from the lowlands and planting them on limestone mountains in the highlands of Lang Son. The experiment became an invention, and custard apple trees have since then created a sustainable livelihood for people to eliminate hunger and reduce poverty.
Currently, this type of tree is grown in large quantities in the communes of Chi Lang, Cai Kinh, Tan Thanh, Huu Lung, Van Nham, Huu Lien, Bang Mac, Van Linh... (formerly Chi Lang and Huu Lung districts), with an area for harvest in 2025 of about 4,010 hectares.
For many years, Chi Lang commune, Lang Son province with its geological advantages has had many favorable conditions for developing custard apple orchards in the direction of clean agriculture . Chi Lang custard apple (also known as Dong Bang custard apple) has long been a fragrant, sweet fruit famous throughout the country. Every year, when custard apple season comes, Dong Bang market area is crowded with people and vehicles coming to transport this sweet fruit from the rocky mountain.

This year, the entire Chi Lang commune has over 1,400 hectares of custard apples with a yield of about 10.6 tons/hectare, producing over 14,000 tons (including spread-out custard apples) with an estimated value of 520 billion VND.
According to Mr. Ma Van Let in Quan Thanh village, for many years now, the authorities have guided people to grow custard apples in a safe way, applying many new care techniques and technologies, meeting VietGap standards. Thereby, in addition to bringing higher yields than before, the farmers themselves have become more aware and responsible in the care process, bringing quality to Chi Lang custard apples.
Sharing his excitement, Mr. Hoang Van Chuc, Lung Cut village said: “In the past, due to lack of care knowledge, my custard apple garden was often attacked by pests and diseases, causing great economic losses. Since being guided by the officers on new farming methods and agricultural production processes according to VietGAP standards, my family has grown from 1,000 to 1,500 custard apple trees, each crop has produced outstanding fruit quality, selling very well.”

This year, with the price of custard apples ranging from 30,000 to 70,000 VND/kg and custard apples with beautiful appearance, which can be sold for the highest price of up to 130,000 VND/kg, Mr. Chuc's family earned over 300 million VND from custard apples.
Every year, during custard apple season, the local government of Chi Lang commune (formerly Chi Lang district) organizes many effective promotional activities to introduce custard apple products to domestic and foreign customers.

On August 23, Comrade Vi Thien Viet, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of the People's Committee of Chi Lang commune, livestreamed on the TikTok platform to promote and introduce custard apple products and other typical agricultural products to farmers, thereby contributing to promoting and developing the commune's digital economy.
“The livestream is part of the efforts of the Chi Lang commune leaders to support people in consuming agricultural products conveniently, bringing the region's specialties closer to consumers nationwide. We hope not only to help farmers sell their products at better prices but also to contribute to spreading more strongly the image, value and quality of Chi Lang custard apple specialties and other local products,” added comrade Viet.
Currently, Lang Son custard apple has reached many provinces and cities across the country (Hanoi, Thai Nguyen, Bac Ninh...). In particular, Chi Lang custard apple is in the top 50 Vietnamese specialty fruits, Vietnam Golden Agricultural Brand in 2017; Golden Cup of the Vietnam General Association of Agriculture and Rural Development in 2018.

In addition, localities have also proactively built a number of chains linking the consumption of custard apple products. For example: Chi Lang agricultural cooperative purchases custard apple products in Chi Lang and Van Linh communes, bringing them to clean fruit stores and supermarkets with an average output of 1 to 2 tons/day.
In addition, custard apple is also one of the typical products in the development of digital economy of Lang Son province, when now, people can sell themselves on e-commerce platforms and through social networking sites Zalo, Facebook, TikTok ... easily.
It is known that at this time, people are harvesting custard apples at the end of the season and taking care of the next crop of custard apples.
