Gold prices end the week up, oil and USD cool down

At the end of the trading session on the weekend of October 21, the price of 4-digit 9 gold bars at SJC Ho Chi Minh City was listed at 70.25 million VND per tael for buying and 71.05 million VND per tael for selling. The price of 4-digit 9 gold bars at SJC Hanoi was at 70.25 million VND per tael for buying and 71.07 million VND per tael for selling.

Doji gold bar price in Hanoi is traded at 70.3 million VND per tael for buying and 71.1 million VND per tael for selling.

The international spot gold price on Kitco closed the weekend session at 1,981 USD per ounce. The gold futures price was at 2,008.9 USD per ounce.

Gold prices ended the week on a positive note. Tensions in the Middle East have sent gold prices soaring. Political uncertainty has made gold a safe haven despite rising US bond yields.

On the stock market , at the end of the trading session on the weekend of October 20, VN-Index increased by 20.18 points to 1,108.03 points. HNX-Index increased by 5 points to 228.45 points. UPCoM-Index increased by 0.62 points to 85.62 points.

The central exchange rate between the Vietnamese Dong and the US dollar announced by the State Bank on October 20 was 24,110 VND per USD, up 10 VND compared to the previous session. The USD price at commercial banks on October 21 was listed around 24,330-24,700 VND per USD (buy - sell).

The world USD price tends to cool down. The DXY index - measuring the strength of the USD compared to 6 major currencies - ended the week listed at 106.16 points, down 0.08% compared to the previous session.

World oil prices fell slightly at the end of the week after three consecutive sessions of increase. Oil prices fell after Hamas released two American hostages from Gaza. This led to hopes that the Israel-Hamas conflict could de-escalate and not disrupt oil exploitation activities in the Middle East. Brent crude oil prices fell to 92 USD per barrel, while WTI crude oil prices fell to 88 USD per barrel.

In the domestic market, the prices of gasoline and oil today, October 22, are applied according to the prices at the management session on the afternoon of October 11 of the Ministry of Finance - Industry and Trade. Accordingly, gasoline and oil prices were adjusted down sharply.

Specifically, the price of E5 gasoline dropped to 21,900 VND per liter. The price of RON95 gasoline dropped to 23,040 VND per liter. The price of diesel oil dropped to 22,410 VND per liter. The price of kerosene dropped to 22,460 VND per liter.
