On the morning of November 5, oil prices fell slightly, Brent oil decreased by 0.45 USD, equivalent to 0.7%, to 64.44 USD/barrel; WTI oil decreased by 0.49 USD, equivalent to 0.8%, to 60.56 USD/barrel.
Analysts say oil prices are under pressure due to a strong dollar and the US government shutdown, which could negatively impact fuel demand. Several major US banks have warned of a possible sell-off in the stock market. The US government has entered its 35th day of shutdown, equaling the record of President Donald Trump's first term.
The impact of the government shutdown is becoming more and more evident as food assistance programs for the poor are suspended, many federal employees from airports, security forces to the military are not being paid. The US economy is also affected as official reports are not released due to lack of data.

Meanwhile, according to Reuters, in Asia, Japan's manufacturing activity in October fell the most in more than 1.5 years. The OPEC+ bloc's agreement to increase oil production in the last month of this year and suspend quota adjustments in the first quarter of 2026 is assessed by observers as a risk of oversupply. A Reuters survey found that OPEC oil production continued to increase in October following this agreement, although the rate of increase has slowed compared to the summer months.
Today, the market is waiting for the latest crude oil inventory report from the American Petroleum Institute (API), expected to be released tomorrow, November 5. According to a preliminary survey by Reuters, crude oil inventories in the US may have increased last week.
Domestically, updating the price of finished petroleum products on the Singapore market as of this morning, some petroleum importers estimate that domestic petroleum prices in the price adjustment period tomorrow afternoon (November 6) will increase slightly, with an increase of about 100 VND/liter, while fuel oil alone will decrease by 270 VND/kg./.
