Risk-off sentiment in the market remains high, continuing to boost demand for safe-haven assets such as gold and silver. Currently, June gold futures are down $5.30 to $3,341.10, while May silver futures are down $0.655 to $32.325.

Asian and European stock markets had mixed performances overnight, with most Asian stocks rising slightly while European stocks were mostly lower. US stocks are expected to open higher today.

Investors are still digesting Fed Chairman Jerome Powell's speech in Chicago yesterday afternoon, where he took a hawkish stance. Powell warned that tariffs could push up inflation and unemployment, and expressed concern about "stagflation" - a situation where the economy suffers from persistent inflation and slow growth. US stocks fell immediately after these comments. President Trump later tweeted that Powell's speech was "a mess" and that he should be fired.

Meanwhile, the European Central Bank (ECB) is expected to cut its policy rate by 0.25% at its monetary policy meeting today.

On the external front, the US dollar index edged up slightly while Nymex crude oil traded around $63.25 a barrel. The yield on the 10-year US Treasury note is currently at 4.31%.

Technically, June gold futures remain in a strong uptrend with the bulls in the driver’s seat. The bulls’ next target is a close above solid resistance at $3,500. Meanwhile, the bears are aiming to push prices below support at $3,200. Key levels to watch include resistance at $3,371.90 (last night’s high) and $3,400, while support is at $3,325.50 (last night’s low) and $3,300.

In the current situation, gold is still the top choice of investors when the stock market and other risky assets face many uncertainties.
