On the morning of June 4, oil prices continued to increase, Brent oil increased by 1 USD, equivalent to 1.5%, to 65.63 USD/barrel; while WTI oil increased by 0.89 USD, equivalent to 1.4%, to 63.41 USD/barrel.
According to Reuters, geopolitical tensions between Russia and Ukraine and the US and Iran are causing oil prices to rise to their highest level in the past 2 weeks. Sanctions against two members of the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries and its allies (OPEC+), Russia and Iran, may continue to be maintained in the coming time.
Tensions escalated when Reuters reported that Russia said reaching a deal to end the conflict in Ukraine was "extremely complicated and it is unrealistic to expect an immediate decision." But it was awaiting a response from Ukraine to its proposals. Russia is a member of the OPEC+ group and will be the world's second-largest crude producer in 2024, behind only the United States.

Meanwhile, Iran is expected to reject the US nuclear deal proposal, which is key to easing sanctions on the major oil producer. Iran is the third-largest oil producer in OPEC, behind only Saudi Arabia and Iraq.
Analysts say that rising global trade tensions, geopolitical tensions... have put pressure on oil prices in the long term. Oil prices are forecast to stay high this week after increasing for three consecutive sessions.
Given the developments in world prices, some key traders predict that domestic gasoline prices may increase slightly in the price adjustment period tomorrow afternoon (June 5). Of which, the increase in gasoline prices will be around 100 VND/liter, and oil prices will increase by 200 - 300 VND/liter/kg. This forecast does not include the Gasoline Price Stabilization Fund.
Since the beginning of the year, domestic gasoline prices have undergone 22 adjustment sessions, including 9 sessions of decrease, 9 sessions of increase and 4 sessions of mixed increase and decrease./.
