Through a series of meticulous tests and analyses, the team of experts determined that almost all hair samples belonged to common animals such as cows, raccoons, and deer.

Of the 36 hair samples, two closely matched a Neolithic polar bear. They may have belonged to an unknown bear species but were not primates.
